Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There's no plans for DAB in Ireland at the moment. Remember reading a Sunday Business Post article about this months ago. RTE have a little about it here and echo the same words

Meh, who wants RTÉ on DAB? It's already crowding most everything else off the FM band as it is...

Anyone got any solid or anecdotal info on receiving UK DAB in the republic? With the costs of receivers dropping to affordable levels, I've been thinking about buying one, but not much point if there's no signal to receive...
Is it like Freeview in terms of coverage and reception in the republic, or is it more likely to be available?

The chances of getting much DAB in ROI is very hit and miss.

As RTE still haven't got around the notion of DTT, God only knows when we could get our hands on DAB. I think DAB would be great for this country, maybe a bit more selection than the 4 or 5 crap channels atm (unless you're in Dublin). Maybe with DAB we could see more varied choices, for example Phantom FM nationwide! ;) If only...

RTE are testing DAB at the moment (or were up to recently). Get yourself a DAB radio up North and you can tune in. Today FM are on the test as well. AFAIK they have a transmitter on Three Rock and one up on Clermont Carn on the border.

I have heard RTE Radio on Digital.

They are broadcasting the 4 RTE radio stations, plus WRN.

But they also seem to be running partial tests of a new station they are calling "Radio 1 Extra", with some Radio 1 material - comedy, drama, children's and old archive stuff.

I've only heard it on a Wednesday on the WRN channel on the multiplex, saying it is a "test broadcast" of DAB.

    Anyone else hear it?

    Take it to PM please.

RTÉ and Today fm have been looking into DAB for a long time now. There was a little DAB group set up with representives from the different radio broadcasting sectors in Ireland that would meet every so often to discuss DAB. This back in 1999 and 2000... it seemed to die a bit of a death after that for a good few years.

I read somewhere a quote from some RTE Radio manager type that they intend launching their DAB services around September of this year...so maybe there will be some more momentum on this...

That wouldn't be a bad thing - the electical stores might sell a few decent DAB/FM tuners then...
