Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would hate to see him drop because I think he's a good player who's had alot of bad luck.

That said, I'm going for the 67th!

I'm going with an early disintegrationhere,22nd. Hope he does well, but if hes gets injury free I'd like to see him at Liverpool.

about bloody time, shrewd business by newcastle though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,267 ✭✭✭p.pete

42 mins but won't be subbed til half time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,473 ✭✭✭Roddy23

    Hope he plays well.
But I'm gonna be a bit sneaky and say he'll fail to start as he'll injure himself in the warm up before kick off.

I hope he plays well and gets through the season.

Then Newcastle can buy him back next season :)

Bloody right, the Magpies done well there! Reckon they knew?

I think he'll get to half time, but not come out for the 2nd

The 1st minute. Ronaldo kicks off and Woodgate collapses to the ground in a manner that makes the term "freak injury" look dated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

    Shame on you all!!

But having said that. He'll probably injure himself shaking hands with the ref just before the match starts.

He'll be putting his shorts on in the dressing room, get his foot caught in them and trip over....

63 minutes. But he'll have picked up a niggle at half time.

Just outta curiousity, it says on SS1 that there is live spanish footy at 8, is that not the Real match? Whos playing tonight?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 342 ✭✭treefingers

i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that woodgate will not suffer another career threatening injury in this game. (what are the odds: about 50/50? :D ) he will be taken off in the 61th min however due to lack of match practice....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 985 ✭✭✭APM

    Barcelona tonight, Real tomorrow night

Hopefully he makes it through tomorrow nights game anyway

I heard about how serious Woodgate's injury was on Newstalk before Real even had a bid I'd be pretty certain Newcastle knew.

Real fans don't give players much time.

When it rains, it pours for Woodgate. I wonder if Real's second half performance save Wanderly.

An absolute nightmare for Woodgate. Sending off was a bit harsh in my opinion especially giving the fact that sme of the Bilbao players, one in particular, were getting away with challenges. Woodgate actually had a decent game other than the obvious.

Its a pity for the man.

    Lol pure ol Woodgate lol.

OG & Red Card. Woodgate will be delighted he didnt get injured walking off the pitch.

Woodgate needs to have an exorcism or something performed.

Thanks, don't think I've missed the sending off.

I hadn't heard about Woodgate until I read this thread.

Literally LOL reading it. Funny stuff.

You couldnt make this stuff up!! :D

You have to feel for him the sending off was not deserved considering the tackles that were going in after Rauls second goal Guti got the Sh%t kicked out of him who I think deserves a starting place at this stage and becks is playing serious football at the moment he was the only player on the field in last weekends defeat. Couldn’t believe how well he played last night.
A turning point for Raul ? When is the last time you saw Raul and Beckham having a joke on the field first for me and I like to think I see all RMs games certainly did last season.
I reckon this wont take a flinch out of woodgate seeing they played out of their skins in the second half the fans there will give him more time to adapt and settle in.
Besides they are well used to poor defending.

I think he was harshly sent off even the Bilbao player admitted after the game that it wasnt a yellow card offence. He looked solid other than the own goal and teh fans gave him a standing ovation as he left the pitch. A nightmare start but he will be back and he will get a starting position in that team. Pity for him though because he would have been starting the game on Sunday away to Alaves

poor bloke, what a nightmare but i`m sure he will come back stronger and have a good season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,251 ✭✭✭✭Lemlin

Ah life's not all that bad. He did spent his entire year of injury shagging Kate Lawlor after all.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 620 ✭✭✭Spider_Baby!

I'd say himself and Sergio Ramos might make a good centre pairing....well, better than Real are used to!!

Probably picked up an injury or two there too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Ultimately though, he didn't get injured, which is the most important thing. I caught his post-match interview on the news there and he just seemed relieved at not getting injured, more than anything else. Real's win probably softened the blow of being sent off. I wish him the best of luck.
