Is it just me or is the "culture" being trampled upon by mainstream crap. Not to say that being in the minority of having your own mind is a negative but why when trawling through websites and asking mates to see if theres anything "happening" in town. Its a ****ing joke, when considering this the capital city of Ireland has sweet f.a in terms of bars, clubs etc who play a whole mix of music - House, Classy Dance, Indie, 80's Disco

Even classic spots i.e THE HUB, began to become down-trodden by the masses expecting to hear "Crazy In Love" and all the classic pop ****e until its demise and possible revival - yet to be seen. This also has to be blamed on the management who might have chosen to cater for the masses.

When will we, the "great unwashed" start to be manipulated by businessmen who want to milk the money out of us i.e. clubs.

    Keep on,
    being different....

Thats possibly the worst post I've ever read in my life. Listen just keep wearing black, listening to Slipknot and convince yourself that you're an individual.

In fact mister "keep on being different" woundn't hearing Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" in the Hub be right down your street????

Awwww bless him, some people just love being miserable. I ain't lived in Dublin for years but even when I go back now and then I have never found it hard to find a pub/club that is playing good music (whatever type that may be!). Of course you'll get a lot of pubs playing the usual chart stuff but if you're out having a good laugh with your mates it usually doesn't matter. All in all if I want to hear certain types of music/or good music there are places to go to in Dublin, just open your eyes (and ears) a little. And cheer up! lol :D

Dont be too hard on him, he makes some good points. I used to feel the same but I've started taking myself a little less seriously now and I'm seeing a real beauty to this city in terms of culture that I totally missed before. Dublin is my heart, I love ya baby!

what bothers me aboot Dublin is that our 'cultural quarter' apart from being teeny weeny, more often than not is covered in vomit, therefore negating any shred of culture you can find among the empty cans and discarded hen night 'bride-to-be' sashes.

Well I wouldn't really consider bars, clubs etc who play a whole mix of music - House, Classy Dance, Indie, 80's Disco, "culture". The last time I looked it was just a decent place to have a few scoops. Wouldn't culture be more like the Dublin Fringe Festival and the Dublin Theatre Festival shows? Heck, even the Bulmers comedy Festival that was just on. Hmmm, pubs as culture? That's an interesting(??) view.

I think he meant a night socialising in the city centre as a degree of culture, which it can be, to a very high one in my opinion. but I'm biased, I really like Dublin
