Cannot update k750i on Meteor

I recently bought a sim free SE k750i but when trying to update the SW version on the SE site i get this message

"Your device is not permitted to use this service

Your operator does not approve the use of this service with this device.
We look forward to assisting you again soon.
Thank you for using the Sony Ericsson Update Service!"

what the hell? Meteor doesnt approve of me updating my phone?? anyone know whats going on here??

try a o2 sim card or so in it.
Btw the phone isnt a meteor sim free one is it, i just want to clarify.

no its totally sim free bought it off the internet! i heard something about branded phones not being able to be updated but mines not branded at all!!
i'll try a different sim card tonight and see what happens

my meteor k750i upgraded fine on tuesday, have you go a pay as you go sim card in yours?

i certainly have! would that make a difference?? i havent had a chance to try a differnet sim card in it but i'll let you know

i think it might, it's not available ready to go on meteor as yet so maybe that is the prob, try the diff sim card anyway to rule it out,
however, have read of loads of people having trouble doing the upgrade, I tried twice one day last week and it didn't work, then last tues it worked first time no probs.
check out howardforums and expansys for more info on what can go wrong

i was talking to some guy from SE and he told me its a problem with the site its being updated and so should be ready in the next couple of days. i take back all the bad things i said about meteor haha
