Hey im stuck with this question... any help would be greatly appreciated.

Use the terms allele, gene, natural selection, fitness, speciation in a paragraph describing the evolution of:

    A) a Galapagos marine iguana from a mainland green iguana
    and
    B) the differentiation into species of a Galapagos tortoises

Well, I'm no expert, but I know what most of those terms mean by themselves.

Basically, evolution comes down to different species competing for limited resources and then populations acquiring traits that confer an advantage.

    Let's start with the iguanas.

Can you tell us what you know about (A) already and then I'll help to fit your keywords into a paragraph you write.

Do you know what the keywords mean individually?

The whole point of those questions is that you don't need to know anything about the species. You explain what each term means essentially by writing a paragraph saying how speciation is the formation of a new species (the Galapagos marine iguana from the mainland green iguana or whatever).

It sure does. And no reply from Blue Eyes to say if the homework got done or if our advice was any use...

Anyway, a site I came across today reminded me of this thread and I thought I'd drop it in. http://www.newscientist.com/channel/life/evolution
