Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wireless Help

    Hi All

Hopefully I can get some feedback from you guys. I am new to the wireless field so any help will be appreciated.

I want to share my Broadband connection between two PCs. At the mo the broadband is hooked up to my own PC in my study, but I want to share the connection with my Daughters PC in the playroom, mainly for her to browse the CBeebies and NickJR websites.

I have been researching a bit and have found the Linksys wireless router, http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=306148&cks=PLC, on komplett (possibly find better price elsewhere :p ). Does anybody have any comments or other suggestions on what to use.

Is this Router worth the money?
    Is the range goos?

:D Have a wireless PCI card here in work that I can use in PC.

    Cheers All

I've personally never used it but seen dozens of recommendations (on here and elsewhere). Linksys,as brands go,are quite respected. It has antennae built and and can be upgraded - so I would assume that the strength of signal would be very good and offers the potential to improve it further.

How big is your house/the distance between connection and computers? And are they solid walls? Are there many obstructions?

If you're looking for a cheaper way of doing it,and can leave your PC on: two wireless cards (i.e. the expense of one more) + Internet Connection Sharing (if you're using Windows)

Normally, I'd recommend a NIC with an external antenna that can be repositioned- but it's just too tempting for some children :D

Using that router myself, find it to be excellent, good range, solid as a rock, using over a year now, never had an issue with any of our 4 pc's.

Thanks Karoma, azezil & irlrobins for the posts. :D

I think from your success my mind is made up and I will get one. Have a 3Com NIC with external antenna to try and if a problem with that I will always order a LinkSys NIC.

Thinking of ordering from Amazon or Komplett. Any suggestions, where did you get yours? :p

My WRT54G came from PC World in Blanchardstown but I had one of their €50 gift vouchers to use up.
