Anyone know how many megabytes per hour BF2 would use when playing on a 64 player server? I ask because now that I'm gone over my cap (GRR), UTV are charging me 1.5c/megabyte until october 1st.

Was wondering if this would come up , or if I was going mad . For the first time ever I broke my 8 gig cap with eircom and now it looks like I will do again this month . So I am wondering the same , is it possible that this game is heavier than others ?

I rarely download anything these days, but my cap was still over the limit recently.....I play BF2 for about 2 and a half hours a night, anyone care to enlighten us on the damage we do each session? :(

Not sure on exact figures but Bf2 rapes bandwidth.

I was the sole reason for me wanting to give UTV more money and upgrade to clicksilver plus.

yes, BF2 is a pure biatch.
It uses about 50 megs an hour, but this increases if youre playing on large populated servers. (ie-the tig64 will be about 70 megs an hour)

So, I'll work out MobileInfantry's bandwidth usage as an example:
    2.5*7=17.5 hours a week playing BF2 :eek!:
    17.5*70=1225 megabytes per week.
1.225*4=4.900 gigs per month playing BF2.

I assume here that he plays on large populated servers all of the time.
    (I think he does, I always spot him on TiG64 :) )

Ah SH1TE. That explains it anyways. I've been playing almost exclusively on 64 player servers since I bought the game :/

Thats a hell of alot of bandwith, but I think my monthly cap is 8gigs, and I never download anything else at all....although this month I did download the cod 2 demo....and starship troopers....and pro evo....and......balls :(

Really sucks. Bit off topic but is it possible to upgrade your existing connection within BT without having to cancel and go elsewhere? Can't afford to be paying monthly over cap fees....

Whose the ISP ?? I'm on AOL atm like, so when i moved back to my house from halls, transfered connection till here, & hadda start a new contract.... but as i had to stick to same pricing structure they hadda up me till 2mb as the 1mb had changed.

Are quiet good I've found as long as ya dont need support. Router needed restarted just & they told me I had to have the AOL software all installed or wasnt possible to connect even though I had ben connecting for the past year

Dont think BT need to up the limit unless ur using their broadband package like. But these ones with limits I dont like :(

hint: bt dont charge casual users for going over the cap.
noone has been charged since they started their broadband services.

Youre on bt, and have been charged for going over the cap?
If so, you are the first person on boards, afaik.

Well we have gone over by only a couple of megs, but the bastards really charge ya for it... I had a 1 MB connection and an 8 gig cap, which costs €33 a month, I upgraded a few days ago to a 2 MB connection and a cap of 20 gigs. for only an extra €15 a month, I would suggest to either change from that crap that eircom offers or upgrade to the business one. :)

I hear that they ask you for your v.a.t number to prove you have a business when you apply because of all the leeching thats going on!!
