Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Cork City Vs Derry City
    Drogs Vs Bray

One way or other, there will be a huge crowd for the final at Tolka (yes its back at fúcking Tolka  )

Im delighted with the home draw. I didnt care who we got as long as it was to be at home. What the draw means is that either Drogs or Bay will be in Europe next season regardless of what happens (I think????), and likely the Setanta as well.

So, unless Shels finsih 2nd, it looks like inter toto for them next season.

The FAI "learning" from last years shocking attendance.

To be honest, any combination but Longford-Waterford deserves Landsdowne. The Cork-Derry game should be an excellent appetiser for the main course in mid-November.

Good draw for Bray to avoid the big two but an away game will not be easy. The Cork Derry game should be a cracking game

Love to see bray in Europe next year.

Shels need to get their act together now and hit second! ;)

Just to clarify (because Cork Derry seem to taking everything this season!) wrt to Setanta cup are the four places going to "1+2 in league + FAI cup winner + Eircom League Cup runner up?"

therefore if Cork/Derry finish 1+2 our four teams in Setanta next season should be :

    1) Cork
    2) Derry
    3) Drog or Bray (FAI semi's)
    4) UCD (LC runner up) <- ie is this guarenteed?

Its no foregone conclusion that Shels wont finsih 2nd and getting them automatic Setanta and UEFA qualification.

However, if things stay the way they are, and City win the league, Derry come 2nd, and Shels finish 3rd, that means City for CL, Derry for UEFA, and Shels for Inter Toto. Now, that opens up both a Setnta spot and UEFA spot from the cup final, as both City and Derry have already qualified for Europe and the Setanta. BUT, the grey area is for the league cup/Setanta spot.

As we know, Derry are the winners there, qualifying them already for the Setanta, but if they finsih 2nd or higher, they are in that anyway, therefore opening up the league cup winners spot. Assuming the status quo is maintained, its between Shels and UCD.

Who do you think the FAI/eL will go for?

Besides, if precedent is to be taken from England, its tough luck on the league cup runner up.

I'd say we're looking at a Drog v Cork final.
    With Cork to win.

Forget the fact I'm a Shels supporter but from a logical point of view Shelbourne should get the Setanta Cup spot. Any league would want their best teams involved involved in any cup competition be it UEFA, Intertoto or Setanta. UCD have not won anything therefore IMO they don't deserve a Setanta Cup spot. Same goes for Shels but they are higher up in the league, the nearest to automatic Setanta qualification and based on league performance would give more to the competition than UCD.

It's there's any 'doubt' over who gets the final setanta cup spot you can be pretty certain the organisers will somehow give it to shels - if it's your competition you simply want the 'bigger' teams in there, almost regardless of form. It just tends to be the way things work.

I thought it was official that it was either LC Winners, or 3rd in League. The only way to sort this out is to finish second, then there can be no bitching and moaning as we will have won entry to everything fair and square!

I'd fancy Cork to beat Derry. And Bray to cause and upset!
