What is your filling of choice and what are the secrets to making it

Mine would be ham, cheese, onion and pineapple. There is no real secret to making it.

I'm also fond of a chicken, lettuce, onion and brown sauce sandwich. Firstly I toast 2 slices of bread. Add a few layers of lettuce, then pile on the chicken, followed by some onion and then smother it in brown sauce.

I make my toasted cheese sandwiches in the microwave.

But my ideal toasted cheese sandwich would be in Grogans at lunch time with a pint of Guinness.

Sounds like something you'd buy in a sex shop not Tesco's.

I may try it tomorrow, actually.

    =-=

Me, I like ham & cheese. I used to put the butter on 1st, but found it nicer if I wait till its finished, then putting the butter on.

I feel sorry for you Hal1. It must really hurt to be so pathetically unfunny that the global average funniness of the human race will go up by 1% when you die.

We do ours in toastabags and anything is good in them really, it really does that pub toasty.
They're also the nuts for cooking stuff if you have no oven or pan.

Eh, I would, but, you know it would ruin the authenticity of the thread or something. *shrugs*

Monkeyfudge, Grogans toasties + Guinness = the win. A man after my own heart.

Eating your sandwich, sup o' plain, look at the local art, listening to the shuffling of papers, the stern looks of disapproval if someones phone makes noise, some codgers discussing the downfall of Fianna Fáil... heaven.

Toasted sambo on batch bread with bacon & egg with mayo and fried onions. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,359 ✭✭✭Sarsfield

I've often thought of trying Grogans toasties. But I just can't eat food with Guinness. And I can't be in Grogans without drinking Guinness.

    Grogans is nice :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

But Grogan's toasted sandwiches have been specially chemically developed to complement the flavour of Guinness.

A little tip about Grogan's... never criticise the art... as no doubt some person sitting next to you created the biggest ugliest piece of rubbish in the place... and they won't be happy... I'm speaking from experience here.

Chicken is nice in a toasted sandwich but ideally should be cooked in advance.

I once got a toastie which had a semi-raw chicken fillet inside.
