Personally i'd like to register my vote for the glans. it'll be a definite conversation point

now now amazingemmet, you had your chance when we called the pierced and tattoo forums EGM to discuss this matter and were probably asleep when we took the vote, democracy rules unfortunately.

    lmfao
    that cracked me up...

I was in college/school today and there was a girl in front of me on the stairs with this ****ty tribal-picked out of flash thing on her back...went outside and they're was a different girl sitting down on the steps, having a fag with the exact same tattoo...
And that's two people that go to the same school....imagine how many people in the city going around with the same thing...
    terrible.

Probably asleep, definitely. But still the glans would lead to some great polaroid moments, there could be a whole new thread "check out the look on X's face when they seen my lad" always thinking of the forum. Vote Emmet dictator

I think a nice pretty small tatto on a girls lower back is real nice.I don't like big tattos on girls. They don't look good!Guys can kinda get away with it.Depends on the tatoo and the place though!

My sister has a huge tattoo of pegasis on her lower back. I think it looks fantastic. She's in the process of planning another. Generally I think tattoos look good on girls, but not if It's some cheap, tacky and unorigional piece of crap.

It is such an individual thing. Doing it for the sake of doing it isn't my idea of the 'done thing' but then who am I to judge?

I have two....they have been on me for a long while and actually need touching up....(aussie sun can be a bit harsh to them). I have a Scorpio symbol on my right outer ankle and a Year of the Tiger symbol at the base of my neck. They might be tacky or whatever to most of you.....but to me they mean A LOT. I am getting my last one soon.......(I am not into 'big assed' ones......but that is MY opinion!)

    :)

I love tats. I think their great. I'm checking out designs at the moment, but they all seem so common, so I'll probably end up designing my own. A definite no no is wearing fake tatoos! There was a girl in my lecture once who thought her 'tat' above her ass was hot ****, little did she realise that the ink was running down her back for all to see! NOT a good luck.

I know somebody who got her own name tattooed on her lower back in big fancy letters. I mean, it's about 7 inches long and 3 or 4 inches high  . I really want to get a tattoo, but like somebody said, I'm waiting for a story to go with it. I want it to mean something to me even when I'm 80 and wrinkled and saggy.

That made me think about a comment someone said recently about tattoos not looking cool when you are 80 years old.

That cracks me up! Who wants to look at you when you are 80 anyhow?

As long as it's somewhere "decent", the wrinkly skin will be traumatic enough for them without really scarring them for life!

I'm going to go against the general consensus here about "tackiness." When I look at a person with tattoos I am struck by the whole effect of the tattoo on the person, not the image in the tattoo itself. Of course I look at the picture and how well it's done as well, but I think the overall impression of a piece and how it looks on the person is more important. Lots of suposedly tacky images look great on people. Two that spring to mind are a friend of mine (a girl) with a large mermaid on her arm and someone else (a boy) with a dragon - on fire - holding and anarchy sign on his leg:D He's very proud of how tacky and stupid it is! But both are well done and are works of art in their own way. So I don't think you need a meaning or "story" to go with your tattoo. Tattoos in general are cheesy - that doesn't stop them being cool. www.sailorjerry.com

I also think tattoos on girls = yay. I don't know if You are asking the womens opinion on that!

Yay I think, I don't see why not. Any girls I know with tattoos, they all look great.

That said, I'm not really a huge fan of heavy tattooing, it can look nice sometimes but mostly I prefer smaller tattoos. But that's a general thing and only my opinion, it doesn't apply solely to girls or guys.

I have one tattoo...tis just 5 stars on my hip but I love it...I hate tattoos that you pick off a wall in the tattoo place and taa daa, you're the same as anyone else walking down the streeet...and yeah, i know, my own tatto isnt the most original thing in the world, but that's what i had my heart set on for a long time...so that's what i got. I'm planning many more too. I love tattoos.

Ah go get one. They can be so hot on girls. Just dont get them on your forearms. Something delicate, no matter what you choose..

Feck delicate, "girly" tattoos! I had no idea so many guys (or should that be boys) had such an intimidation of girls with big tattoos. Get over it or I'll send Patricia around to beat you up!

Butterflies can be cute, depends if you designed it, how big, etc.
Personally I wouldn't mind some self-designed wings on my back

    I'm a naysayer.
They seldom look good on women.
And seeing as how I have one myself (very personal), it's hard to justify that opinion, but, like music taste, my initial reaction is the one that I always go by and I don't recall too many tatoos on women that I liked or felt enhanced their appearance.

Now that I think of it, I don't recall too many on men that I like either !! ???

    Hi everyone,
I am thinking of getting a tattoo (a small one that will be easy to hide, possibly a butterfly on my hip) and am wondering what you think of tattoos on a girl? Can they be pretty or do they make a girl look cheap/tacky/butch? We've all seen Pamela Anderson's vile tattoo of barbed wire around her arm...

    Nala
    Excuse me? VILE?
I have a unicorn on my lower left arm, a butterfly on my upper left arm, a liverpool crest on my upper right arm,a dragon on my lower right arm, ive a heart with "mum" on my lower back, ive a heart with "dad"on my ankle and i have a chinese symbol on my tummy.

    AM I VILE?

No point getting body art if your going to hide it

    :D

Seriously though, like lizanne said, if you're going to get a tattoo get one for the love of it and how it's gonna look and be proud to show it off! Then again that girl a while back made a fair point that her tattoos were for herself only

What would I know. I've been trying to decide on what tattoo to get for years now...

i think yay, tattoos always look good provided they suit the girl and she is comfortable with them.

That delicate tattoo on girls things is just my preferance but I know plenty of females with plenty of tattoo's. I think the more delicate tattoo's look better, thats not to say a girl cant have a kick ass tattoo that covers her back or something and still look good.
If your unsure what tattoo to get then maybe make one yourself. I took a part of a tattoo that I saw in a magazine on some guys back, changed it and enlarged it and now it runs from my hip to my knee. Its unique and I love it.

Tattoos can be cool and all but like imagine a jumper and its a nice wooly jumper its blue and you put it on and it fits well but then it shoots out little like hooks and darks that stick into your skin and anchor the jumper to you so it becomes a second skin and blood seeps through the jumper. That's kind of a tattoo. You might want to express and decorate yourself with clothes and jewelry rather than tattoos which are just to inflexible I mean you're stuck with them for life half the time what with changing fashions and the way and individual changes theyre just to permanent. Having said that I have a tat there on my back and I sort of regreted it for a while(its a large unusual occult symbol) its just part of me now.
Only advice : 1. make it private so showing it is a choice and only your favourite people get to see it.
    2. Think long and hard about the design and dont pick it off the wall of the shop.
