thinking of getting my first tattoo,

heres what ive come up with so far as what to get,

my immediate family names on my arm in old irish style wrighting
and surroundings of the names in wrought iron going from the start of my fore arms up to my sholder.

ps me aul' fella is going to have a baby when i tell him i'm going to do this as he has already highlighted his disgust when i suggested it to him that i may be considering doing this, so how'll i get around this one, i know most of yews got your tattoos without your parents knowing, so suggestions on the tattoos and how to prevent me aul'fella from having a baby.

My mom didn't want me to get my tattoo done... moaning about the permanence of it, etc. but when she actually saw it she though it was gorgeous and hasn't moaned about it since.

    My parent's hate tattoo's and piercings. I love tattoo's and piercing's.

Im my own person. Are you?

what's "old irish writing"? Perhaps getting your family name tattooed to you, when the person from whom you inherited it will hate the tattoo, is a bit silly....

I'm getting my first tat on my 18th, and my mam is having kittens! "You're not getting a tattoo!" but once your 18 your folks can't stop you, if its something you really like and really want go for it, although getting all family names up your arm might be a bit much, how about just your family surname?

If that is so much of an issue that you are asking, either you are too young to get a tattoo or too immature to make the right decision now, either way you shouldn't get one due to the fact that you have to ask the question in the first place.

Most of us are old enough so that mammy and daddy dont have a large say in our lives anymore, it comes with turning 18 and gaining adult status.
I waited until I was 33 to get my first tattoo done.

Having names tattooed up your arms is unbelievably knackery. Don't do it.

I believe he is asking for an opinion before he gets a tattoo, he is not wearing a tattoo that Eth0 called knackery, that is what the charter says, it's a fine line but hey ;)

dunno, haven't got one yet. apparently its only places that are close to the bone, or there's not a lot of flesh on them that are really sore.

If the pain is your main concern rather than the art then dont bother.

I found fleshy bits a little more sore then boney bits..
but I'm a thin girl anyway, so there wasn't too mcuh of it....
but I agree with blub,if it's pain thats worrynig you don't bother.
I'm fine with pain, personnaly, got a huge thresehold, but of course some bits are gonna hurt.Deal with it.
