    Hey,
new update basically stopping your psp becoming a solid brick of nothing, although there are only one or two of these known malicious coding which may do this to your psp the likelihodd of this happening are very, very slim, the update is only a security one as you may have guessed.
Sony is advising that psps get the right region update.

Sony Japan has released UPDATE 2.01 for Japanese PSP systems.

    Model Numbers:
    PSP-1000
    PSP-1000 K
    PSP-1000 KCW

Sony is highly recommending that you not use this update on any units other than Japanese units with the model numbers listed above.

The update includes security updates and a fix for the "Overflow Bug".

This update is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as this "bug" allows for malicious code to be executed through a .tif image.

This is info for jap psp, as i have one, not sure about the euro update but thought i would let anyone who hasa jap psp like me know, even if alot of you may already know about it.

Or in other words, it'll stop you running homebrew software now that people have cracked 2.0 and come up with a downgrader.

Can't see too many people upgrading this time. Any extra features?

Hmmmm... it'd be funny if this was the exploit the makers of the homebrew used, to make the homebrew.

yeah, thanks for that! i better go out and update my psp - wouldn't want any "malicious" code to run on it.

The overflow bug was the key to getting the downgrader working on v2.0.

I have a PSP-1000 and there is no way in hell Im gonna upgrade ^_^

It may allow you to run homebrew but it also allows someone to destroy your PSP if you were to download a questionable game off the net.

Fukin hell Cabelo you're acting the very way sony want you to...

Instead of choosing to tell the truth ... like anything you download, be careful... and of explaining the benefits of homebrew, and of showing people it exists, and then perhaps adding a disclaimer

    You've chosen to scaremonger

Fukking pathetic, we're gona see all the "clever" press folk warning of the imminent danger to all PSP owners, instead of reporting it like it is
Huge exploit found in PSP to allow people to:
download full games and play off their mem cards,
    to play homebrew,
    to use homemade apps,
    to backup games,
    etc etc...

    But beware...
