Email notify 'on' by default?

Ive only used the email notify feature once in my time here on these wonderful boards? does it have to be on as a default? Apart form that good stuff lads :cool:

you can turn it of in preferences joe. or somewhere there.
its really annoying getting a load of mail about some thread on humour where you wrote 'lol, nice 1'
er, or so i hear.....:D
