Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Suppose i'll have to give it to you. :)

Yes you are correct, 3 players to have won the European Player of the Year Award 3 times are:

    Michel Platini
    Marco Van Basten
    Johan Cruyff

Well I did get there, eventually!
Ok, who is the only British player to ever win the European Golden Boot (for club goals in a season)?

    Its a nice quick one

    Henrik Larsson,

they had a big debate over the formula they use to calculate it! It's not as simple as how many goals ya do score. They take into account the league ya play in and stuff like that.

Think Ally MaCoist won it by the same formula aswell in the early 90s.

    Ian Rush ?

it would have to be rushy wouldn't it seeing as how larsson isn't exactly british...

Is it British Born or British Based player?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

    Is it Michael Owen?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,432 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

    Gary Linekar ? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,432 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

oh wait, did kevin phillips pick it up ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,219 ✭✭✭Mossin

    Gary Linekar ?
    Is it Michael Owen?

I dont believe either player has won it.

Although I have a sneaking suspicion that Kevin Phillips won it a few years back, around the time he was called up to the England team.

So with Rush, McCoist, Owen, Lineker, Phillips, and McClair's names in the running, are we going to find out who it is?

Philips did win it afaik. He was on MOTD2 a while back and they said as much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,219 ✭✭✭Mossin

Phillips has won it as so has Rush.
    So is the question flawed??
Or are we interpreting it wrongly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,432 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

well again, i dont have a question, so if someone wants to take my turn with it, then fire ahead :)

Ian rush was welsh, wasnt he ?or am i thinking of someone else.

if its british player, then philips would be the only one

Yeah Rush was Welsh, but is Wales not part of Britain??

If it is an English player then it's Phillips.

    Andy Cole at Newcastle?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,219 ✭✭✭Mossin

    Lets try another question.

Who was the last Irish player to score in a Senior Competitive Match and against who?

An easy enough one, but we need to keep this thread going. Gone quiet of late.
