Looking at a song from 30 years ago, do you think world politics has changed in any major way?
The eastern world, it is explodin’.
    Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’
You’re old enough to kill, but not for votin’
You don’t believe in war, but what’s that gun you’re totin’
And even the Jordan River has bodies floatin’

    But you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
    Ah, you don’t believe
    We’re on the eve
    of destruction.

Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say
Can’t you feel the fears I’m feelin’ today?
If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away
There’ll be no one to save, with the world in a grave
Take a look around you boy
It’s bound to scare you boy

    And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
    Ah, you don’t believe
    We’re on the eve
    of destruction.

Yeah, my blood’s so mad feels like coagulatin’
    I’m sitting here just contemplatin’
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation.
Handful of senators don’t pass legislation
And marches alone can’t bring integration
    When human respect is disintegratin’
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin’

    And you tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
    Ah, you don’t believe
    We’re on the eve
    of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
You may leave here for 4 days in space
But when you return, it’s the same old place
The poundin’ of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don’t leave a trace
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don’t forget to say grace
And… tell me over and over and over and over again, my friend
    You don’t believe
    We’re on the eve
    Of destruction
Mm, no no, you don’t believe
    We’re on the eve
    of destruction.

Discuss..... BTW, I know it's more US orientated, but the things they do affct us all. MurphaPh, and Simu, I expect some good well thought out stuff!

This is more relevant to today imho
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail To The Chief",
oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,

It ain't me, it ain't me,
    I ain't no senator's son,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no,

Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, why don't they help themselves? oh.
But when the taxman come to the door,
Lord, the house look a like a rummage sale, yes,

It ain't me, it ain't me,
    I ain't no millionaire's son.
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no.

Yeh, some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, how much should we give,
oh, they only answer, more, more, more, yoh,

It ain't me, it ain't me,
    I ain't no military son,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
    I ain't no fortunate one,

It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate son, son son son
Anyway whats to discuss? The worlds crap? Nothing changes?
:D Lol, I would tend to agree, but the world has improved slightly just that the basic realitys of power havent changed much. Same shít Different day I suppose. We push on...

    Ether - Gang of Four

Trapped in heaven life style (locked in Long Kesh)
New looking out for pleasure (H-block torture)
It's at the end of the rainbow (White noise in)
The happy ever after (a white room)

    Dirt behind the daydream
    Dirt behind the daydream
    The happy ever after
Is at the end of the rainbow

Dig at the root of the problem (Fly the flag on foreign soil)
It breaks your new dreams daily (H-block Long Kesh)
Fathers contradictions (Censor six counties news)
And breaks your new dreams daily (each day more deaths)

    Dirt behind the daydream
    Dirt behind the daydream
    The happy ever after
Is at the end of the rainbow

White noise in a white room
White noise in a white room
White noise in a white room
White noise in a white room

    There may be oil
    (Now looking out for pleasure)
    Under Rockall
(It's at the end of the rainbow)
    There may be oil
    (The happy ever after)
    Under Rockall
(It's corked up with the ether)
    There may be oil
(It's corked up with the ether)
    Under Rockall
(It's corked up with the ether)
    There may be oil
Some of this has changed. Kinda.

As rules state, you can start it or I can lock it. There's a possibly good to reasonable thread to be had out of this (despite the initial start by posting Barry McGuire (I think) songs merely with a short RFC) so some time before this evening would be good.

No more songs please. Let's pretend that's because of copyright issues rather than my terror at the prospect of Politics hosting one of those godawful "what song are you currently cutting and pasting" threads.

Ah Victor you don't know the half of it. This cyberspace thing isn't too big to prevent claustrophobia with all these virtual happy hugs floating around:D.
