Jack Thompson has a game idea!

Any gamers will probably know who Jack Thompson is. If not, here's it in short: A weirdo American Lawyer who's spent the last decade trying to tell us games are 'murder simulators' designed to train our kids to kill. Also, this site might be helpful.

Anyway, he's got a game idea! Here's the story:

Osaki Kim is the father of a high school boy beaten to death with a baseball bat by a 14-year-old gamer. The killer obsessively played a violent video game in which one of the favored ways of killing is with a bat. The opening scene, before the interactive game play begins, is the Los Angeles courtroom in which the killer is sentenced "only" to life in prison after the judge and the jury have heard experts explain the connection between the game and the murder.

Osaki Kim (O.K.) exits the courtroom swearing revenge upon the video game industry whom he is convinced contributed to his son's murder. "Vengeance is mine, I will repay" he says. And boy, is O.K. not kidding.

Now all we need ir for someone to buy it, kill a member of a game studio, then blame it on the game. Then where will Mr. Thompson be? If his own ideals are anything to by, Jail, that's where. Poetic justice.
But, as the article says,

...Nobody in games would ever want to knock off Mr Thompson. Not only is he an endless source of slapstick entertainment; you just can’t buy publicity like this.

This man costantly amuses me.
He has inspired me to become a stark raving 'attorney' (where does he find the time to a) fight court cases and b) make money?) who wont shut up trying to ban mass popular entertainment. Let's see, computer games are gone.. i think ill try and ban the entire output of Hollywood from the last 8 decades. Yes, by deciding my future career path, Jack Thompson is the best influnce of all.
And while we're at it, can i suggest 3 other games to ban?
1. katamrai damacy : causes teenagers to roll up into a large ball and destroy cities.
2. Gran Turismo : confuses the masses into believing crashing your car will result in no damage. Mass car carnage will ensure if this game is no banned!
3.Super Mario Bros : Look - magic mushrooms that make you grow big. What else needs to be said?

And by far the best way to get across my point is by making an ultra violent computer game that echoes the type im trying to ban. Yes that makes perfect sense.

Word on the street is a group of GTA modders actually went and made this game, but instead of playing as Osaki Kim, you play as Thompson. When Jack Thompson found out about it, he refused to honour the promise to pay money to charity. He said the proposal was irony and that gamers couldn't be expected to understand his wit. What a guy. The guys over at Penny Arcade then donated $10,000 to the Entertainment Software Association Foundation in his name. Ironic, No?

It's so funny reading all the articles the last few days and e-mails people are reposting, he's threatening to sue just about everyone. He threated to sue Penny Arcade if they ever e-mail him again. He's going to sue VGCats if they ever e-mail him again (even though they were replying to an e-mail HE sent them). He's hilarious.

Jack Thompson was responsible for threatening a Ice-T with treason (which carries the death penalty) because his 'rap' song that he wrote (which was actually a heavy metal song) cop killer was what incited the LA riots. Of course it had nothing to do with corruption in the LA justice system but was due of course to Americas most dangerous and feared minority.

This man needs to be locked up. I'm loving reading his latest delusional press release every day. Trying to shut down penny arcade, because they satirised him!?!? My god think, if he manages to shut them down then who will follow? Every Comedian on tv for taking the p*ss out of public figures? Not to mention the fact that they paid 10k to charity on his behalf because he couldn't put his money where his obviously large and stupid mouth is.

Pearl Harbour? This guy is having a laugh. However I think this is one battle where he will definitely lose. The japanese love their gore in video games but it is usually far more tastefully used than in the 'gore to boost sales' sense that the American companies use. As for the taking on Sony, as gamepolitics pointed out, they only make the player not the game. Sony should sit Jack Thompson down to a game of their self published work of art Shadow of the Colossus. But then it may spark contraversy over discrimination of tall people.
