Snacks/Sweets - 5 Mods!!!

Is it really necessary to have five of us moderating this forum? There are far bigger volumes on other forums with less mods!!

Besides, I seem to be the only mod that is showing any bit of evidence of actually modding it. All the others have little involvement in the forum, or at least I haven't seen then edit, delete, or mod in anyway!

Just curious to know what the score was! This is by no means meant as a rant! Simply seeking some feedback is all!

There aren't five of you moderating the forum. You're the only one moderating the forum.

Snacks/Sweets is a subforum of Food/Drink, modded by Shabadu (whose name always reminds me of Agadoo, bless her) and kayos (whose name reminds me of a well-known Maori chant for no justifiable reason). Food/Drink is part of the Rec category, which is cat modded by seamus (whose name reminds me of me) and WWM (whose name reminds me of a cunning Tom Sawyer).

Rights are inherited down so because the forum you mod is a subforum of a forum modded by others and part of a category patrolled by two others (all four of which have the ability to mod Snacks/Sweets by the by), you might think you've got company on that desert island of yours that just never bothers to call in for dinner but really its just yourself and that volleyball you fished out of the surf. Give it a name.

MAJD (whose name reminds me of someone ordering Kentucky bourbon oddly enough) is in the same position with the Beer Guzzling Forum - looks like she's got four co-mods but it's just her.

edit: like Karoma said below, you could have asked that on the mod forum more conveniently though I reckon Feedback's as good if you're in that "I shall do all in public lest the public think I am sekrtly conspiring against them" kind of mood. Or if you want them to think you're not

    Dude,they're inherited from forums above.
Shouldn't this sort of thing be discussed privately first? Bad form.

    edit:
    only saw the above post,d'oh!
It's nice to see some transparency on mod-related issues: just in this case it seemed bad form becuase the OP sounded like an accusation that the other mods simply weren't pulling their weight...
    it's all goood.

Ah, That makes things a little clearer. Thanks for that. I did wonder what the story was. Thanks to both of ye for enlightening me.

Feel free to delete/close this forum.

Sidenote - where is this mod forum ye speak of? I don't believe I have access to such a thing!!!

I don't know.. there's probably a need for those 5 Mod's - as those discussions regarding how Curly Wurly's don't taste as nice as they used to can get pretty heated!.....

Jaffa Cakes are biscuits not cakes, bring on the flames!

And KitKats are chocolate bars, not biscuits.

    Nonsense!....
Under UK law, no VAT is charged on biscuits and cakes - they are 'zero rated'. (Note that in British English, a 'biscuit' is roughly equivalent to a US 'cookie' or 'cracker'). Chocolate covered biscuits, however, are classed as luxury items and are subject to VAT at 17.5%. McVitie's classed its Jaffa Cakes as cakes, but in 1991 this was challenged in court. This may have been because their Jaffa Cakes are about the same size and shape as some types of biscuit. The question which had to be answered was what criteria should be used to class something as a cake or biscuit. McVitie's defended the classification of Jaffa Cakes as a cake by producing a giant jaffa cake to illustrate that their jaffa cakes were simply mini cakes. They also argued that the distinction between cakes and biscuits is simply that cakes go hard when stale, whereas biscuits go soft. It was demonstrated that Jaffa Cakes become hard when stale and McVitie's won the case.
I do however agree on your case regarding Kit-Kat's - definantly

PS - gone way off-topic here... apologies!

Should be there if you click on it to actually open the category as a page rather than just running the mouse over it (it's not there on the drop down).

Keeping up with confectionary-related developments as I like to do, the Jaffa cake case didn't go to court. It was a tribunal that McVities and HM Customs & Excise attended and sought a ruling from (hence there's no HM Customs v United Biscuits case to quote gleefully from in exams which is rather a pity). The "giant Jaffa cake" was certainly large but not enormous - it was 12 inches across. United Biscuits, owners of McVities, went on to lose a tribunal ruling in 2003 when they tried to classify a partly-chocolate-covered tartlette with a biscuit base as a cake. Chancers. Shockingly while we're thinking luxuries, UK VAT on women's sanitary products was 17.5% till 2001 and is still 5% while we spent all that time thinking about shoes for young growing munchkins. If anyone can explain why a tampon is a luxury product, tie it in with Snacks/Sweets and make it on-topic for this thread, I want, nay need to hear from you.

I should really start a blog for my warblings. And hire a ruthless editor. Perhaps I should lock this thread.

Do the food/Drink mods not have to mod it too because for
beer / wine / spirits there would just be one, for snacks /sweets there would just be one and for vegan / vegetarian there would be none.

    Hey Memphis! /me waves

I wouldn't moderate anything in the booze forum, or snacks & sweets as they are MAJD & your babies respectively. (unless I saw a porn link before either of you or something)

Oh, or to move a thread from the food & drink main forum into either of yours.

Tar- the reason I started doing a few moderaty things around the veggie forum was that both WWM & seamuss seemed busy, and the place needed a charter, a few stickies and a caution or two. I have no problem modding vegan/vegetarian, I enjoy reading it.

All I meant to say was that what sceptre said wasn't too accurate as you mod it and you are a mod of food / drink while not being mod of vegan / vegetarian in particular. If what he said was strictly true then there would be no mod.Obviously there is and I think you have done a bang up job so far (:
What i'm trying to say is that i'm glad that you have looked in and done the moderaty stuff and that I think the mods of food / drink are mods of the three off shoots.

I think you mean "despite", not "subject to".

Funnily enough, I think you understood the post subject to the mistake, making your post a pointless exercise in pedantry.

Fancy that, Bard a pedant. hmmf

He said he wasn't a retard, and in the same sentence made a basic grammatical error. I just pointed that out in a post that was made purely in jest. I guess that's hard to bring across on an Internet forum. It's kinda like me pointing out if he said that there was nothing wrong with his spellung.

    ... you git.

I don't really like the word retard, but I didn't start using it (and yes I'm aware you didn't either Bard), but are you saying that only retards are allowed to make basic grammatical errors, because if you are then most of the people on the face of the earth are retards. In fact they probably all would be.

    No, I'm not.

I made a short post purely in jest. Draw your own conclusions.

Well they are, but partly by default and not necessarily by specific design. They do have the power of Greyskull to do all the mod related things there so while I'm correct in a fuzzy way, you're correct in a specific way.
