    how do i edit what programs automatically run on start up?

    Click Start > Run...
    Type msconfig
    Click OK.
    And explore the different pages....
    Most of what's loaded at windows startup will be listed in the last property page (ie. the one farthest to the right)
    so'teeed.

    Win95 (maybe 98)
    Edit your start menu files (there should be an entry under start--->programs) called "start" or "start menu". If you edit the menu you can remove the shortcut to these files and it should work for you.

    all versions:
    Make sure it's not just a service starting.
    If it is, go into services and switch it from automatic to manual.

    easy - regardless of version Right-click Start > Explore Users > Double Click on Programs > Double Click on Startup > Copy and Paste any programs you wish too run at startup into here. :D
