Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wireless security w/OS X

    Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a wireless network, but I can't seem to get it working when I encrypt with WEP or WPA.
I've got two Macs, 1 eMac (wired) which I use to set up the router, and an iBook G4 using Airport.
While I can get a signal on the iBook with encryption off, this isn't ideal, as my house is on top of a hill.
    Overlooking a housing estate...

So, does anyone with some experience know how to configure my router properly?
I'm using an Asus WL500g router; on Eircom BB w/PPPoE

Also, what length or style does a password have to be? I.e., would "opensesame" be the right length/style, or does it need to be longer/shorter/with numbers (not ideally, but for it to work)??

    Thanks for any advice

The required length of the password depends on the strength/method of encryption. Have you checked the NIC spec's - do they allow for WEP/WPA? (I would imagine they'd both accept WEP).. For the moment, try MAC filtering on the router (for some protection)
