    Hi all,
Am also moving to Charleland soon-ish (when house is finished). Does anyone know what the story is with the site that is zoned for commercial development as part of the large business park on the south boundary of Charlesland park/grove?

No one seems to know whats going there and we're slightly afraid that when its finally built it will be industial buildings/retail warehouses etc that will be noisy and/or affect the re-sale value of our house when its all built.

Any info/views on this very welcome!

The land is owned by the IDA, and is intended for development of a high-quality business park.

Us locals know it as the "AMD land", since it was one stage owned by AMD, the chip manufacturer, who intended to build a Intel/Leixlip style chip foundry there. That fell thru' and the IDA ended up buying it back.

So yes, ultimately the plan is for the land to have office/light industrial development on it.Whether this ever actually happens remains to be seen.

Google for "IDA land Greystones" and you'll find some news stories about it.

there is a large amount of land zoned for a "business park" (whatever that means) but I don't think it is where you're describing. AFAIK the 2 unused roundabouts that you go through between Greystones and Charlesland will be used to gain access to the business park. The remaining unused roundabout (between Charlesland and the Kilcoole road roundabout) will be used for access to the sports park\Jackie Skelly Fitness. I don't know if anything is planned for the land immediately to the south of Grove\Park (this is where the old farmhouse is, along with a few barns).

Also planned for the land between Greystones and Charlesland are a community centre (planned for about a decade now!) and a public swimming pool

been checking Wicklow CCs planning website and it looks like there are two different commercial developments planned. The one on the IDA lands (between Greystones and Charlesland) is a business and technology park

the one to the south of charlesland sound like some sort of warehousing park and includes a petrol station (looks like its beside where Jackie Skelly Fitness is currently under construction)

click on the View Map option at the bottom of each page to see the location.
