    ...oh man. :O Sweet!
If I had infinite ammounts of money, I think it's probably an E46 I'd end up with - pretty close to the above. Dream car, nice one!

Fantastic choice!! may i ask how is it on juice? Trying to convince the ould lad to go to the dark side and buy a diesel, and that engine gets the best reviews.... Is the torque incrediable?

It's actually really good on juice. I was disappointed with the 520d's economy as on average I was getting around 7.5/7.6 l/100km. I guess maybe I was a little aggressive in my driving. I am averaging around 8.3 - 8.6 l/100km on the 535d. (around 60% motorway, 40% city). Yeah the torque is fantastic - the way it can go from low speeds to silly speeds in what seems like a flash is unbelievable. I have driven an e60 M5 in the past for a day and its the closest thing I can compare it to.

if you were disappointed with the economy of the 520, how can you be happy with worse from the 535? Purely the performance making up for it?

I suppose I would describe it as being "absolutely" disappointed with the 520d, but "relatively" happy with the economy of the 535d. As you say the performance more than makes up for the loss in economy
