    MX5

I can't actually look at an MX5 anymore without subconsciously saying to myself 'Ahhh, mine MX5!'

Did you paint the mirror caps? They look good black.

I'd do the chrome V at the front too!

I painted the caps and everything black in the photos actually (all the dark/black bits were faded and crap looking). I considered the V on the grille, but left it at blackening the horizontal lats in the grille (either side of the V). This way I have one chrome element on the front and year (exhaust tip and V).

I actually did loads junk to this (and not all of it fruity pinstripes and paint!), full breakdown here.

Have the wings and bonnet been re-painted? They look to be a lighter shade.

Not that Im aware of, but this is the paint Alfa have ended due to quality issues, ie it wears off very quickly and unevenly. Though the images exaggerate that effect, in reality its only the bonnet that sticks out.

Very difficult to repair or touch up any one panel due to this too.

I like it! Nice, original(ish) and subtle. The way all these kind of cars should be :D

BTW, is that an actual beams engine or just rocker cover?

  • Registered Users Posts: 603 ✭✭✭metalgear2k2

Thanks, I tried to keep it as original as I could, only things that are different are the pedals, radio (still have the original) and the wheels.

It’s for sale by the way :D;)

It is an actual beams, not just rocker cover!

Nothing wrong with adding a few small touches here and there! It's all the OTT stuff that really gets my goat.

I'm just finished paying off a loan for my own car so I'll have to say no :)
