Problems with BT BB

    Hi all,

I've had BT broadband for about two years now, currently on the 2MB scheme. Lately I've been having a lot of problems maintaining my connection, the connnection is constantly being dropped, which is extremely annoying when you go away from the machine while it downloads something. I'm connected via the Xysel 630 modem (no router) and I get persistent "DSL signal lost" errors. Haven't changed anything in the configuration in ages as it was all working fine and I didn't need to, frankly.

Anyone encountered similar problems? Last night I noticed my DSL signal was being detected at all for a while, so it's starting to become a worry. Oh, and are the Esat forums still around? They've been kind of hard to track down.

    Thanks

Ive noticed a lot of drops too...Can anyone tell me what the CRC errors mean?

    ADSL Line State: SHOWTIME
    ADSL Modulation: G.dmt
    ADSL Annex Mode: ANNEX_A
    ADSL Startup Attempts: 1
Elapsed Time: 0 days 0 hours 9 minutes 35 seconds

    Downstream Upstream
    SNR Margin 12.4 22.0 dB
    Line Attenuation 55.6 31.5 dB
    Errored Seconds 8 0
    Loss of Signal 0 0
    Loss of Frame 0 0
    CRC Errors 9 0
    Data Rate 2048 128 kbps
    Latency INTERLEAVED INTERLEAVED

this is the info i get when i pull up the ststus page on the modem/router.
Also noticed that it drops down from the 2048 data rate to 1145 or there abouts.. I assume this means im not getting the 2mb connection at that stage?

appreciate any advice as to how to tackle isp about this....

Blastman : try calling ur ISP and reporting the loss of DSL Signal.
there might be a fault they need to fix. ur DSL shud never drop.

tones_ie : have you gotten reduced dl speeds? increased pings?
I suggest you call them and report it.

    Hi Diabolus
tones_ie : have you gotten reduced dl speeds? increased pings?

actually ive gotten reduced speeds...yea...dunno bout pings though...but notice my usual pages load slower all right...

on the dsl router status page,it says connected at Data Rate 2048 download and upload of 128 kbps...if i leave that page up and let it refresh sometimes that 2048 drops down to 1450ish on its own...then if i turn router on and off it re-connects at the 2048....

what is that crc errors do u know?

heres a ping to boards.ie..is this normal...not sure how that ping is supposed to work...
