"Humour" "Charter"???

    Charter

OK Folks - there's been confusion as to what's allowed on this board and what's not.

The following are considered "no go" areas for your postings here to the Humour Board...
    Pornography
    Dead Baby Jokes
    Racist Jokes
Links to Mature Content or Rotten websites
Jokes making fun of issues regarding Paedophiles, Child abuse (suspected or proven)

Do you think anyone has read this? If they did they're not taking heed.

These sort of jokes make up a huge portion of the "one liner jokes" for example. I dont mind the odd sick joke, but I dont know if Im comfortable with seeing hundreds of jokes lined up, most of which would be considered offensive by their reference to:
    child abuse
    cot death
    rape
    race, religion, nationality
    disability
    sexuality

Does anyone find the death of Holly and Jessica funny? If they do, they need their head examined, but either way, should not post jokes about it on a site like this.

I dont know who is meant to be moderating this forum but theyre not doing a good job of it considering the sheer volume of offensive jokes here.

Call me a fuddy duddy if you want. Im not a do-gooder or a Mary Whitehouse wannabe. I just think there is a time and a place for sick jokes and am dissappointed by the lack of sense some people are showing when posting their "jokes".

Im not a huge fan of sensorship, but perhaps there should be an X rated joke section where people know what theyre getting themselves in for.

Jokes dont have to be grossly offensive to be funny.

    Dear Fuddy Duddy,

All jokes are at someone's expense.
    What's important is malicious intent.
If there is no malice intended and the joke is actually funny what's the harm?
Yes there are some subjects which are not suitable as joke material but in general posters here have reasonable morals and don't normally cross the line. The rest of us who frequent this forum soon let a poster know if the line has been crossed.

Please feel free to post a funny joke which can't be contrued as offensive in some way to someone. It's not that easy to find one.

    Yours,

    Hagar.

PS Fúck off so I can tell the lads the one about the orphaned gay one-eyed black Jewish hunchback with a stutter going into a necrophiliac paedophile brothel.

We don't always get the chance to see every joke posted here. If you feel a particular post needs action, use the "report this post" function. Once we know of a reported post, we look at it and react accordingly.

    Thanks for posting Hagar.

Very often jokes such as racist jokes origionate in and perpetuate malice.
Very often the joke is NOT "actually funny"
I wont patronise you by going into the "harm" that you seem to fail to see sick jokes can cause.
in general posters here have reasonable morals and don't normally cross the line.

I know its hard to draw a line considering how difficult it is to define it, but some jokes are just blatantly sick and repulsive to most people. Thats why I suggested an X Rated area where more sensitve, sensible, or "politically correct" people may want to avoid.
The rest of us who frequent this forum soon let a poster know if the line has been crossed.
Glad to hear it. But I still think theyre jokes should be deleted or moved.
All jokes are at someone's expense.
    No theyre not.
I agree that many jokes, and many of the funniest jokes offend people.

The girl with no arms, falling off the swing for example, is one that I as the son of a disabled person, and having slight disabilities of my own, DO NOT find particulary offensive. Its the type of joke people will laugh at and then say "thats terrrrible!"

    Fair enough.

But even though I have no obvious emotive connection to the Holly and Jessica murders in the UK, I find joking about it completely abhorrent. What happened those two little girls hardly bares talking about, let alone joking about.

Basically what Im saying is I wish people would cop the fcuk on and understand where and when is appropriate for verious jokes, and I hope that mods and decent members let those who post the more extremely depraved jokes know that it is not encouraged.

Surely its obvious that some people are taking the sick jokes a bit too far.

Agreed. If you look at some of my previous posts I have gotten into some rows as a result of me calling a joke racist.
Thats why I suggested an X Rated area where more sensitve, sensible, or "politically correct" people may want to avoid.
In general most people here put a warning in the title of a risque joke. There are some examples on the forum right now. I haven't read them so I won't comment on them here.
    No theyre not
I disagree. Someday I'm going to get the shít kicked out of me in a back alley by a flock of angry ducks after all the duck jokes I've told.

The girl with no arms, falling off the swing for example
    That joke isn't even funny.

I didn't see the joke you are referring to but I agree with you as a matter of principle.
those who post the more extremely depraved jokes know that it is not encouraged
Agreed. But let the less depraved of us have a bit of a titter now and again

BTW you did realise my previous PS was a joke? No offence intended.

Yeah I did realise your PS was a joke! I do have a sense of humour believe it or not.
But let the less depraved of us have a bit of a titter now and again
Im not denying anyone anything and wouldnt even if I had that sort of "power". I just wanted to make a point and Im glad some people have read this post.

Maybe Im a bit hyper-sensitive, but that Holly and Jessica joke hit a nerve today for some reason.

I think the mods might be able to do more to discourage really depraved jokes.

As for the good jokes- keep em comin!

I don't think you're being hypersensitive, womoma, or if you are, you're not alone. I saw the post in question, and I couldn't even finish reading it. There was nothing funny in it, and a lot of it was in the poorest possible taste.

The charter is pretty sensible, and if adhered to, would enable this forum to provide most people with a bit of a chuckle. There's always going to be someone who says they've heard the joke before, yawns, etc, but they should be ignored. There's also always going to be others who'll get a chuckle, and that's the main aim - isn't it?

The idea for the X-rated section is a very good one. But even in an X-rated section I don't think there should really be a place for most of the jokes in that offensive post. It just wasn't humour.
