Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

...for applauding the ref! NOt watching it myself but my brother told me. Not suprising to see how Rooney is turning out (although he is improving recently) if this clown is England captain!

    Straight red?

Harsh, imo. He was pissed off, you could see it in his face but all he needed was a little slap on the hand.

What i found hilarious was gravesons red card. He came on on the 80th minute, and was off in the 82nd, lol! Lost possesion on his first run, and took your man down.

Never a dull moment with Real, eh! Gravesen was unfortunate, Beckham should have known better.

It wasnt as bad as Rooneys but he still deserved to go. You cant do that and he should know better.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,479 ✭✭✭wheres me jumpa

im sorry but that decision was a disgrace.

rooney was right in the face of the ref and really made the ref to look a fool and he deserved a second yellow.

its clear now the precedent has been set so all players should now know better. but really if a player applauding a decision is the worst abuse a ref gets in the game i would be very surprised.

Terrible decision. Beckham wasn't even facing the ref and was 10 yards away from him. And by the actions of the referee it wasn't a 2nd yellow it was a straight red, because he never showed the yellow a 2nd time. He couldn't wait to send him off.
Also the Gravesen red was mindboggling. It was a straight-forward yellow. You see midfielders get booked for this every week, when an opposing player breaks away in their own half - nip the attack in the bud. It's a cynical, clever foul but in no way dirty. There was a similiar foul on Beckham in the first half. It was actually worse because he was caught around the knee and the player wasn't even booked.
Interestingly, you will notice in all games that identical fouls committed in either half of the game warrant different punishments. Too much pressure on refs to give a certain quota of cards. The moral of the story commit all your fouls in the first half and get it out of your system because you won't get away with it in the 2nd half.

Bringing the game into disripute. Automatic yellow card. the same as gesturing to the crowd. Deserved everything he got.

I think this will shed a lot of light on the Beckham sending off. Apparently, he was not sent off for clapping the Ref, but because he's Blonde and Pretty.

Beckhams red has been rescinded today. The Spanish F.A. over ruled the ref. Proper order.

    Fukin disgrace.

Its all a Vendetta against Rooney.

He pushes a Bolton player in the face and gets a 3 match ban whilst Essien tries to break one of their legs and gets away with it

Rooney claps the ref, gets sent off and then gets a further one match ban(bringing it to two), That prick Beckham does it and gets his red card rescinded.

Beckham wouldn't have been sent off on Sunday if Rooney wasn't against Villarreal. Rooney deserved it Beckham didn't. Beckham got booked for shouting angrily after a poor decision, fair enough. He then clapped about 10 yards away from the ref, facing away, and was sent off. Rooney got booked for a bad tackle (afair) and then clapped right in the ref's face.

True. However, on their own, either (and therefore both) of Beckhams "incidents" were yellow card offences in this day and age.

Serious lack of common sense on the part of someone who is captain of their country and has been in trouble with referee's for stupidity before.

I agree that the straigt red card that he received should have been taken back because it wasnt a straight red card offence but I certainly think that it was a yellow card offence and he should have been sent off. He is very lucky to escape without at least a one game suspension. He should have more sense than that
