Looking to pick up a used car for between 4 and 8 grand from a dealer/garage. Driving a 94 Mondeo that has had it's day and not even worth 1000 Euro.
Are there any dealers/garages left that give accross-the-board 2000 Euro trade-ins for any car traded in? Or are they a thing of the past.
Would a dealer even consider an 11-year old car?
    thanks in advance

Usually those deals were against new cars and the same discount could normally be achieved anyway with a little haggling. Probably best selling it via buy and sell or something like that and then going in to the dealer with cash to get the best deal.

It's unusual to get a minimum trade in offer where you couldn't negotiate a straight sale for a discount similar to the trade in value or weren't tied into a somewhat unfavourable finance agreement. These things are usually just smoke and mirrors and rarely offer any better a deal than cash will buy you elsewhere.

Most dealers would probably not consider taking an 11 year car worth less than a €1,000 unless you were trading it in against a car worth €30k or more.

You are better off putting it the Buy and Sell and advertise it as "sold as seen". You will be better off buying your new car with cash as the discount for a cash customer will be greater than the trade-in allowance on an 11 year old Mondeo.

The €2,000 scrappage type allowance was only against new cars where you payed the balance by signing up for their finance package. Again the only winer here is the dealer who gets a nice commission for selling a new car and from the finance company for getting another customer.
