Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Don't think I've laughed as much as when I heard someone here say "I've a Terry Phelan we won't win" in a very long time.

I used to love the ad on RTE (might have been the last world cup). "Maradona, Pele, Terry Phelan" - Can't remember how it went but he is just someone you have to laugh at. :)

    That was the one!

Terry was the first man on the scene when Ray Houghton banged that goal in against the Italians:

I know its a small pic, but just look at the passion in his eyes. I'm sure he kissed Houghton just after that! ;)

The thing I always found interesting about Phelan was apparently he had some superstition concerning his socks. If he could manage it he apparently wouldn't wear socks with were anything other 1 solid colour (ie no pipings or logos etc). In fact of you look at him in Ireland games his socks don't have the adidas 3stripe on them. eg http://www.clubi.ie/fpage/history/pics/92denvire2.jpg

    The legend grows and grows.

some classics from the red and orange mastercard balls in the last world cup:
"Pele" "Maradona" "Pele" "Maradona" "Pele" "Maradona" "Pele" "Maradona" "TERRY PHELAN"

"I know Terry Phelan", "You do". "I played with Terry Phelan", "You did". "And let me tell you something, he is no Terry Phelan"

"Did you ever notice how all the great players have great names - Maradona, Ronaldo, Pele" - "Terry Phelan"

Ah what a legend the man is. I cant believe he is still playing. I think I am officially an Otago United fan now. Ex Leeds player as well which only heightens his legend status in my eyes
