The Texas lawyer nominated to the US Supreme Court by President George W Bush, Harriet Miers, has withdrawn as a nominee to the court.

This is an large and embarrassing failure on Bush's part. Hopefully the indictments will hit later today. Bush will probably have a little cry tonight.

I haven't ruled out the Miers nomination as a "they'll never accept this one" move, to help ensure that whoever the second nomination turns out to be has a better chance of getting through....cause US politics has an unnerving way of working like that at times.

I also wouldn't hold your breath on indictments.
