Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    No he is not.

Worlds number 1 dj according to a different poll is Benni Bennassi. So your title is wrong.

dj mag poll is the main one. its still a load of bollocks though.

    I would award as follows,
    Richie Hawtin,
    Dave Clarke & Luke slater.

    Best producer: Chris McCormack.

dj mag poll is the main one.

Who decides it is the main one? Is there consensus and if so who measures the consensus?

there is a dancestar awards held in a different country every yr, and they are the main body for awards

    http://www.dancestar.com/usa/2004/index.shtml

And these are global, over the whole world

    http://www.dancestar.com/usa/2004/downloads/all_ds_winners.pdf

these are the nominations over the past few yrs, there is various cat, but the main one is the best club dj, and ones in the past are paul oak, then it was carl cox, and it has been tiesto for the past few yrs, paople argue who is the best but u cant say one house dj is better than a trance dj in my opinion.

the DJ mag one is a corrupt load of bollocks imo
i'm getting sick of DJs canvassing for votes every year. BK's tactics this year were disgusting to say the least (he gave away a royalty free sample pack, then sent a "vote for meee" email to the address you had to provide to start the download)
crap like that makes voting for the dj in question the last thing i'm going to do. if anything, it'd put me off going to see them.

and it seems that the majority of people vote for their favourite djs in general, instead of the ones who have impressed the most this year (which is the point of this poll, afaik...)
    think my list this year was something along the lines of this;
    DJ Sneak
    Erol Alkan
    Danny Howells
Mark Maitland (the only hard dance dj on my list. and deservingly so!)

That's pathetic. Laurent Garnier will still be the world's best DJ when he's 75 and can't even move a crossfader without spasming.
