    Just a quick question.

Is it better for a company to buy and host its own web server (price of decent web server that's being thought of = 4000, host also costs)

    or

external hosting (currently *a lot* every month) but they do the page design and maintenance

    or

is there a reliable, secure and fast hosting service on the net where you do your own maintenance?

it'd need an almost 100% uptime and preferably something in the service level agreement to that effect.

Which option you go for depends on your specific requirements.

I had a look at these two UK companies a while back and they sounded good.

It really depends on how much it costs a month to rent your server, if its anywhere near 1000 then go for it. You have the added advantage of owning the server and having final say on what exactly you do with it.

Software could be expensive as well. Really depends on what your using.
