Proposed Change to Biki Frontpage

    I think the Biki [wiki]Main Page[/wiki] needs an overhaul.

    I've changed the [wiki]SandBox[/wiki] to my proposition for it. Anyone can edit it, and add to the Sandbox page, and i can change the Main Page later if the changes get any support.

    While on the subject of the Biki, any chance of some Code changes?

    It was suggested here to change the code in the user drop down menu from

    http://www.boards.ie/wiki/$username

    to

    http://www.boards.ie/wiki/User:$username

    which seems like a good idea. Also, any chance of putting in a similar code in the forum tools drop down menu to link to

    http://www.boards.ie/wiki/Board:$boardname

    Also, any chance of getting the latest Biki edits back on the frontpage?

    That looks real purty there Steveire. And useful too. I give my full support for this change.

    Biki has grown into something huge which makes me very happy.

    I don't see why anyone would object anyway, so I just went ahead and did it.

    I also added the forum category template to the each category, eg, [wiki]Category:Comp[/wiki]. Most of the board articles need a lot of work. Most other pages need a lot of work too. Hopefully more recruits can be eh, recruited.

    Also, anyone who knows how to do such things might fix the template for requested pages to make it the same size as the other template. I guess it's something to do with padding at the bottom of the table. I'm learning this stuff as i go along, so don't know how to do it yet.

    I'll leave the [wiki]SandBox[/wiki] as is for a bit in case anyone else wants changes made to the Main Page.

    Quick question

    Is the link to the "Thread of the Day" located on the front page automated or does it need to be updated manually?

    It's manual, like most other wiki pages i think. It should be possible to automate it i'm sure, but i wouldn't know where to start with that kind of thing. If someone else knows and can do it, that would be great, and would have lots of other uses that i can think of.

    It's possible to put bots on the wiki to do jobs like this.

    I've no knowledge of Python. But would it be possible to use this to search the DTML Menu for the text "Thread of the Day", and take the thread title and link from the next line, then use this to change the [wiki]template:Thread_of_the_Day[/wiki].

    It seems possible, but i just heard of Python today, so don't know enough about it. Would this bot have to be installed on whatever space the Biki is installed on?
