Can't believe I hadn't spotted this!! According to gateworld.net link, SG1 and SGA have been renewed for tenth and third seasons respectively:
The SCI FI Channel has officially renewed its hit series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis for another season, the network has just announced. It will be SG-1's tenth season and fifth year on SCI FI, bringing it even with its five years on Showtime. Atlantis will enter its third year.

The network has ordered 20 episodes of each series, in keeping with the current and previous seasons.

Season Ten will make Stargate SG-1 the longest-running science fiction series in U.S. television history, surpassing the nine years and 202 episodes of The X-Files.The series will air its remarkable 200th episode early in Season Ten.

Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper will return as executive producers on both series. Wright co-created SG-1 with Jonathan Glassner in 1997. Wright and Cooper then created the spin-off series in 2004, with Wright becoming Atlantis's day-to-day showrunner while Cooper stepped into that duty for SG-1.

The network has not yet confirmed which regular cast members from the show will return next season, as contract negotiations are likely still pending. No changes in the regular casts are currently anticipated.

The first half of SG-1's ninth season has averaged 2.4 million viewers per week, according to SCI FI. The second half of Season Nine and Season Two will kick off in January on SCI FI.

The network is also expected to renew Friday night companion series Battlestar Galactica for a third season, but has not made that official announcement yet. The series is currently SCI FI's highest-rated, and is critically acclaimed.

Stargate SG-1 is produced by Double Secret Productions, in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Sony Pictures Television. Stargate Atlantis is produced by Acme Shark, in association with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Sony Pictures Television.

Next season is expected to enter full production in Vancouver, British Columbia in February 2006, with a summer premiere on SCI FI.

    IN YOUR FACE 'X-FILES'!!

at the risk of sounding like a nay sayer.... i think sg1 and atlantis while absolutely kickass programs, are sneakily covering old ground, i have seen this in a couple of episodes of the new series of both, replace earlier episodes caracters, switch the names of the nemesis, sickness, entity etc. around and presto, i really think they should end it before it turns crappy like the xfiles. dont get me wrong ill still watch it, but :( sure does make me a tiny bit teary eyed

    oh yeah and

    IN YOUR FACE "SPACE COYOTE"!!!

    Wow.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that makes Stargate the second longest running sci-fi show in history.

Hard to believe that its been ten years.

Longest running US sci-fi show. If you're going worldwide, then yeah you've got "Doctor Who" with a record that won't be broken. You've also a couple of Japanese shows. Still, it's going to take a long while for anyone to beat it - what with the dearth of decent promising sci-fi shows.
