NEC bikeshow (did you go over the weekend)

so any of ya's head over to the NEC the weekend.

If so what was your highlight of the show?
Did you pick up any bargains?


This was my first year to go over really enjoyed it. The place is massive.

I'm heading over on Friday for the day (first time) - any do's or don'ts etc.
How long will it take to go around the whole site?

me and a mate went in to the show bang on 10am it took us till 3pm to walk around the whole place (now thats having a good look at all the stalls/bikes) stopped for about half an hour for something to eat.

if you want to do one of the free supermoto or the trials bike tracks go there first thing at 10am to put your name down cos it gets booked out really quick (get the floorplan layout and find out where you sign up for it and go straight there) cos the people that have been before go straight to these stalls.

thats if your arriving there before 10am are you flying over if so what time cos you really do need the whole day to look around the show

Went on Monday with the GF.
Bought a lovely new lid and gloves and a neck warmer.
Kept me right all the way from KK to Galway today...

Got back on the boat last night. Went over on the bikes on Sunday. Driving across Wales was class. Back aching a little still!

I was most impressed by the size of the show and the amount of relevant exhibitors. Very few irrelevant stands unlike the RDS.
The new launches were nice - the 202mph Kawasaki zzr1400 sport"tourer" :eek:

Picked up some gloves and some other small nick nacs. If only England were in the €uro!!! - The exchange rate made some things less of a bargain.

Definitely worth the visit...

how long did it take to drive from wales to the show. might look into driving the bike over next year
and how much did the day cost you for boat fare and petrol (the cost of petrol over there is madness i thought it was expensive here)

i used my credit card for buying stuff much better exchange rate

Flying in at 7:45am and out at 9:40pm - should have loads of time to wander about...

there the same times flights i got.

we left the show at 4 and headed into birmingham city to do a bit of shopping to kill the time till the flight.
there's some really cheap cloths shops in the city and your going friday so all the markets will be open so there's pleanty of bargains to be had there.

it only takes 10mins to get the train into the city centre from the NEC

5 of us went over and it ended up costing €110 each - boat, accomodation and entrance to the NEC. Ended up putting about £20 in petrol into the bike and then there was food.

The journey took 6 hours (each way) but we wont go into that much more other than to mention (in no particular order) "overheating" "constant" "oil" "leak" "head gasket" "freqent stops" ...

Twas certainly an experience, and next time, I'm taking the other bike (or getting me one of them zzr's)... Poor Bullet just wasnt up to the mountains of Wales...
