Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This might be easy to some but I've just tried everything I can think of. I have a Belkin 125g wireless card in my Acer Laptop. I using Eircom BB's Netopia 3347Wg Modem. It was working fine until I tried to set up my cousins Ibm Thinkpad Pentium M on the router. Now my Laptop will connect to the router but will not assign me an IP address. His laptop doen't even see the router. We can both connect via a LAN Cable. Any helpful tips would be gratefully appreciated:confused:

What Operating Systems are on each machine?

Reset the router and try again is the first place to start.
    Are you using encryption?
Keep both laptops within a few feet when setting them up.

    what Karoma said:

Remove any encryption setup (WEP, WPA), mac restrictions etc. See if you can connect then. Set router to assign ip address using DHCP and set laptops to use a dynamic address.

One Laptop is Xp Home, the other is Xp Pro. Both are up to date. I haven't removed the WEP or WPA. I'll try that when I get home later and let you know the outcome.

Eircom's 3347nwg router comes with wep enabled as default, I wouldn't advise turning it off. But it may be worth changing the default channel of the router, eircom's by default work on channel 7, most adapters I've used work better on 1.

Open the netopia interface, click on 3Dwireless > advanced configuration options > and just change the channel from 7 to 1. The wep key is also listed there, worth taking note of.

disabling wep will just simplfy the network to see if a connection can be made. once things are running ok, he can switch it back on.

ok the problem is that you're not being assigned an ip address by the router.

Can you check to see that dhcp is enabled on the router and that the laptop is set to get an ip address automatically?

If you're not sure how to do this post back and I'll post instructions
