Sometimes I just think to myself some organisations sit down in a board room and specifically decide...."Lets make it difficult for everyone to find us on the web". Heres a few examples....

    http://www.dlrcoco.ie
    Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council

wtf... it sounds like a closet cereal fanatics support group!
I saw it blazened on the side of our wheelie bin & thought WHAT??
    whats wrong w/ www.dlrcc.ie

    http://www.vhihealthe.com
What the hell is there an "e" on the end of health??
Also why dont they use their ".ie" site... www.vhi.ie
That is so much more memorable. Its not like their an International organisation, where a .com maybe a bit more recognisable.

    http://www.icosirl.ie
This is the Irish Council for International Students. I worked there over the summer and never did manage to find out why they picked such a totally incomprehensible domain name. Not only did they not change the ICOS acronym when they replaced the word "Overseas" w/ "International" (costs re: stationary etc ?? duh??) but what the hell is the "irl" @ the end. Its a ".ie" anyway?? Whats wrong w/ www.icos.ie ?? (I know its reserved now but it wasn't @ the time)

    Anyone got any other booboo's????
You'd swear these orgs didn't want to make themselves hard to find!

This was one of my earlier works: www.glmcgowan.ie . Only worked on the design, the domain wasn't my choice.

Maybe it's just that the .ie rules are fairly restricting, and ppl are 'scared' to chance their arm at a slightly diff name then their RBN ? thus resulting in gobbledy-gook domains.

    re: www.glmcgowan.ie

Acid I dont think thats that bad or imcomprehensible. Its the persons name!?

We're talking domain names way out of left field:)

    vhihealthe.com

I think the "reasoning" behind this was that there was a bit of a (bad) pun going on with

    healthe - healthy

and also, you see, sticking "e" on the end or front of things is very cool because it makes you look electronic!
