Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Today's Premier League games:

    Aston Villa vs. Liverpool (12.45)
    West Ham vs. West Brom
    Newcastle vs. Birmingham
    Blackburn vs. Charlton
    Arsenal vs. Sunderland
    Fulham vs. Man. City
    Portsmouth vs. Wigan (5.15)

    My predictions:

Aston Villa vs. Liverpool - Already 0-0 at half-time but I'd say 1-0 to Liverpool
West Ham vs. West Brom - Draw
    Newcastle vs. Birmingham - Newcastle
Blackburn vs. Charlton - Draw (Charlton have a knack of beating Blackburn though, even when Brad Friedel manages to score an injury time equaliser!)
Arsenal vs. Sunderland - Arsenal by a canter
Fulham vs. Man. City - Man City
    Portsmouth vs. Wigan - Wigan

Talk about crashing back down to earth with a bang for Charlton..... that's a shocker of a result against a very ordinary Blackburn outfit.

Lemlin i'd say yer delighted with Blackburn these days.

Not sure if I'd call players like Craig Bellamy, Brad Friedel, Ryan Nelsen and Morten Gamst Pedersen ordinary. They're the solid foundation that Hughes is building this Blackburn team on.

He took over an ordinary side but he's made it anything but. His signings in the transfer market have been very shrewd with some great business, most notably Bellamy who cost 5.5 million but has already knocked in 4 goals in the last 3 games.

Delighted isn't the word. Ecstatic would be more like it. Another great result today. 17 points already and, for the first season in a while, Blackburn are beating the teams they should, bar the loss to Villa.

Our problem was always drawing with too many teams but we've already seen good victories against Fulham, West Brom and Birmingham this season. Not to mention Man Utd :)

Looks like Charlton are doing their ritual nose dive after a good start. I would love to know how Curbishley prepares them in pre-season as they always seem come leaping out of the traps. He just doesn't seem able to sustain it.

Up to 3rd now unless United manage to beat Chelsea. Away form in the premiership is whats needed now!

Can't see how you make that out. Today was Charlton's first away loss.

    He is talking about Arsenal.

Yeah fair play to Blackburn and Mark Hughes because they have improved big time this season and I can see it continuing

Wigan keep going. 2-0 win at Portsmouth. Amazing.

Got confused there, sorry about that.

Hughes has turned the team around and IMO is beginning to keep to his promise of shedding the image of Blackburn being a dirty team. Today was another game (after the Brum one two weeks ago) where not a single Rovers player received a yellow card.

I doubt people will focus on that though. They'd much rather emphasise the 4cards we picked up against Chelsea in the match sandwiched between those two.

Only a year into the job now and he's working wonders, on limited funds.

And the fairytale continues for Wigan!

Watching The Premiership and Richie Dunne had a howler for Man City.

Had to laugh at how Ray Houghton gave an in-depth analysis on the Liverpool penalty, without ever actually admitting if he thought it was a penalty or not.

Anybody see Henrys overhead kick. It should have went in and if it did, Goal of the season

Actually what got goal of the season last year. Is there a website or something like that about?

    Eireboy? ;)

Did anyone see Radzinskis miss against Man city? Absolutely hilarious stiff. I have never seen a miss like it. It was a literal open goal and he was directly in front of it. Truely shocking stuff

I think it was Rooney's goal against Middlesborough, was it? The cracking volley he had.

Thank god for him they won. I'd say he would of needed an escort off the pitch if it had ended 2-2.

I think he should get a slap in the head for acting the dick and not just sticking it in. You'd think the ywould have learned about taking the piss after the penalty te othe rweek.

Without wanting to sound biased, it was surely Rooney's volley against Newcastle.

The David James comedy show continued today. He makes some great saves but you'll always get a bit of entertainment on the side:)

Maybe that was it. All I can remember is that Rooney hit a sublime volley against someone and that won it AFAIK.

I think the less impressive Rooney goal got the award, not the one against Newcastle.

In fairness, you're the only person to mention that reputation in the thread...

I was talking to a ManYoo fan this week about who should replace SAF at Old Trafford and floated the idea of Hughes as an ex-ManYoo legend taking the reins. He shot he down straight away, but contrary to my posts earlier in the season, I think he's got Blackburn playing good football and he's achieving results while doing it.

On this thread maybe but judging by any threads where I've mentioned Blackburn on this board it was only a matter of time before someone mentioned it so I got in first. Just glad to see that Blackburn are proving people wrong.

Hughes is 14 months in the job and we're starting to see what he's achieved at Rovers in those months. Like I said above, he's moved quietly in the transfer market but brought in great players like Bellamy, Mokoena and Nelsen. As well as that, he's got players like Tugay, Neill and Michael Gray back to their best.

Last year it was necessary for Blackburn to try and bully teams into submission when we were fighting against relegation. This season the pressure is off and, as showed yesterday, we can play good football, Charlton were run off the pitch and they are a very good team.

Hughes got his tactics just right by making sure Danny Muprhy, who pulls the strings for Charlton, was tightly marshalled. Hopefully we can carry our good home form into our next away tie against Man City in two weeks. That'll be a very tough game.

Good to see that you no longer see Rovers as "thugs" and "scumbags", hopefully more people will start to see the change soon.

What did everyone think of Daryl Murphy's Sunderland debut yesterday?

I thought he was ok but he never got any support and there were always 3 Arsenal players on him. That corner leading to the goal was a beauty though.

    If it gone in though.....
And in the days of "boring" football at least Arsenal always try something different.

I agree. Arsenal are one of the few teams who remember that football is about entertaining.
