Given that we know the major record companies have been fixing the charts for years, anything that appears in the popular media forms, I generally regard as manufactured crap. Its not exactly a new phenomenem. I had the exact same discussion w/ my Old Man about this recently, and he said it was exactly like that in the 60's as well. [I do think the current crop of "music" though is particularly abissmal]

The only solace I can offer is you grin and bear it or listen to other alternative music sources that filter out what Louis Walsh et al. want us to hear:)
As my Dad pointed out for every thousand shit bands, you'll get a "Beatles" etc. So maybe it is worth it:)

That's the "1000 Monkeys with typewriters" theory!? :D

    80project is right...
There's tonnes of great music out there. You just have to look for it.
Pop-crap is good enough for the masses who aren't bothered enough about music to find something decent.

MP3.com is actualy quite decent for finding down something interesting, at least.
And the music stores are usualy pretty decent for ordering foriegn junk in...

Just look at all the wierd crap I have to get imported from Sweden/Norway/Finland/Germany!? :)

But not all the stuff that gets into the charts is rubbish, look at Tool! They got into the charts in America.
Just try and look for good stuff. It's always around.

I liked the Superman Lovers song.

"Cant turn the radio without seeing the likes of...."

Yes you can you don't see songs on the radio. And if you listen to the right stations like Phantom, XFM and Jazz FM aswell as pet sounds on Today FM you won't hear that music and stop watching MTV except fot Brand New and possibly MTV Live

The best show without a doubt these days is the Friday Rock show. Yea it might play some Nu-metal crap but it is still a great show.

    Until next time... Rock on!
