    Hi

AS a recent arrivee from London I'm looking for advice on the cheapest way to access the net?

In the UK I could pay £14.99 p.m for all you can eat 24x7x365 on 56kbps or £39.99 for ADSL per month.

It seems a tad more expensive here so ANY advice would be hugely welcome.

    Cheers

    Simply there is none :(

Unless you work for a big corp w/ a leased line and have access it through work or your willing to pay alot to get a "pondscum" ISDN 64k line from eircom.

Seeing that your a newbie- You might not know there is a lobby group established to campaign for broadband and affordable net access called IrelandOffline and we have a forum here....

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=60

You can also access our website @ www.irelandoffline.com

The delays are numerous and complex but if your interested you can give your support on the website and browse to the forum- It s the busiest on the boards BTW:)

Of course in response to your request- Any of the Irsih ISP's are fine- UTV internet are quite fast I've noticed and IOL aren't bad- but it makes no differnece bcos you're just paying the cost of the calls to the big bully in the market.... €ircom

    Gluck

Its only a small help but if you're in Dublin then
you can get NTL they do an internet access deal, using
dial-up, for a little more than the TV only service- its slightly
more expensive to use in the days and weekday evenings
but is free at the weekends and public holidays.

    Otherwise its as stated above.....

ADSL has been promised for years but officially €ircom were to begin offering it on Oct 2nd- but bcos they have issued absolutley crazy interconnection rates to their competitiors to access the Local Loop, they are embroiled in a legal dispute w/ the telecoms regulator (ODTR) @ the mo. So who knows??- Probably b4 Christmas but it wont be cheap:(

BTW if your living in parts of West Dublin (Tallaght area) NTL have cable access for £40 p/m but this limited-

Stay tuned to the IrelandOffline board for the latest anyway- if theres any developments you'll probably hear it there first!
