Ive got the first 3 episodes downloaded too. Havent watched the third one yet though.

    First impressions?
Please, lose the intro music. The ship itself is quite futuristic looking, looks closer to the enterprise D than any others with the exception of C which we only see in one episode ;) The cast should be able to pull it off although none of the episodes focused on any one in particular so far. The vulcan is hot, especially her maxim photo shoot, hubba hubba

Personally I think itll be good, theyve a lot of explaining to do as its humans first own exploration vessel. So theyve a fair bit to play with and it shouldnt get boring for a while :)

I've seen it, its pretty feckin good tbh.

The vulcan is hot alright. The music is a bit Michael Bolton for my liking. The cast are good and the first pilot story is good.

I get the feeling it will be a lot rough and tumble then the "later" starfleet P.C. ridden series :)

I was looking at the screenshots. I could swear one of the actors was the guy from Quantum Leap... the photos are'nt very clear though.

BLITZ_Molloy - you're right, heh ... Scot Bakula from Quantum Leap + the gay guy from American Beauty.

Yep you're right about Quantum Leap dude Scott Bakula playing Captain Jonathan Archer (renamed from Jeffrey apparently, urban legend mayhap). Episode 4 should be out tonight.

Ship is too modern looking IMO, should have been more retro pre Enterprise NCC-1701. They did bring back the old communicators (kind of) and reverted to yellow command colours (stripes on a navy uniform), blue medical, red etc.

All sounds good (especially the vulcan :) )

Like the sound of a more rough and tumble series, about time trek got back to its roots and less schmalzy then of late.

...havint seen the show - exactly when does it start over here? - but I just downloaded the title music... awful cheesy! A compleat departure from previous trek shows.... and I thought 'Voyager's theme was pretty bad!

shots of the show look good though, and I've heard little but good things... cant wait!

    - Theme tune and opening sequence SUCKS. It's like days of our lives.

    - The Decontamination scene is borderline porn. :D

    The rest is bwah.

Cool! I loved Quantim leap. It should have been crap but the writing and good acting from Scott Bakula made it great fun. I can't wait till I see this.

One question: are the rest of the actors all American? the Next Generation worked because the ppl spoke with neutral farking accents and not like texans all the time. In DS Nine the bajorans and Klignons all talked like yanks- it ruins your sense of self disbelief. The characters in Voyager were like that too until 7of9 arrived. remember the voyager episode where Janeway runs out of coifie. I mean what the fcuk?

Cloud- of course its going to look more modern because it's before The Original ST but closer to our present: year 2001.

Hey Hobbes! Don't knock Days Of our lives! It's one of the only dramas I can stand on TV :). English dramas are just whine, whine whine, bitchedy bitch. Australian ones are too nice and harmless. But american ones are great- loads of revenge and backstabbing. I also recommend the Bold and the Beautiful. Sunset Beach i never really got into... then theres...um... whats it called?

    Nope, can't remember it...

I liked it, (the pilot episode), it has an air of beleiveability, in the way humanity would react 100 years after the first warp drive test, seen in First Contact, that the series is set in.

The theme music is the ultimate hokeyness. The Vulcan is indeed, hot... can anyone say 'Perky Nipples'? altogether now...

The shuttles and the ship have a definate feeling of 'toe in the bath of space' and how the politics of The Alpha Quadrant evolve and what humanity finds when we go 'Where no man has gone before' is going to make for a very exciting and a more 'realistic' approach to any Star Trek series ever.

Another very nice touch about the Enterprise, is that it's relitively DARK. the space stations and shuttles we've seen in RL, are all dimly lit, the bridge of the Enterprise, huimanity's first real spaceship, shouldn't be lit up like a christmas tree.

at last, beleivable fights in alien pubs will become a reality in TV.

    :D

Does anyone have any pics of this "Hot Vulcan"???

If their going to have pub brawls I hope they show us where the start trek fist fighting techniques came from. You know what i'm talking about- you do double handed strikes from your waist upward to over your opponents head -like you going to hit a volleyball.

saw the pilot a couple of weeks ago-seemed to be more star wars than star trek but was pretty enjoyable all the same...

O M G , i cannot believe the intro musik, what the hell were they thinking?, a voice singing in trek..wtf!!, and a terrible Michael Bolton'esque one at that...is nothing sacred?

As for the the klingon on the opening sequence, why is he next generation'ish looking?, aren't they supposed to be small and almost cranky girlie in the past?

Have only watched to the intro music as i've the second hour to ahem..aqquire and dont want to spoil it..but already..what is the story with the klingons?!, anyone watched the furbles ds9 episode?..it makes no sense!!!

Please tell me the klingon appearance is resolved later in the show!!

I remember an episode of DS9 when the crew went back in time to kirks ship, they were all confused why the klingons didn't look like worf and worf said, "it's something that is kept between klingons"
so maybe there gonna use a cheap little story like that

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 999 ✭✭✭DrunkLeprachaun

Impossible, that incident happened between tos and tng. I think there was a reference to some eco-disaster or something on klingon in tng.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 852 ✭✭✭m1ke

whatabout that ep in tng where they genetically recreate yer man kahless and he has the knob head on him and that was like thousands of years before kirks klingons .... this one is gonna keep the bloke from the cartoon shop in the simpsons busy for ever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,155 ✭✭✭Xithus

They were taking the piss in that DS9 episode. Not making a stupid cover story for it..

When is that thing in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire ? Id like to go..

How come in any Sci-Fi, there's allways sounds of laser fire or engines humming? I thought sound couldn't travel in space? For realism you should tun on mute whenever the camera goes to an Outside shot of the ship. ;)

Looks like 2001 space oddysey was the only one to get it right! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,562 ✭✭✭Snaga

Yes and every second of 2001 was nail biting ;P

Nothing like a good zap zap of phaser fire to keep ya interested ;)

OE MYE GOED IETS FUELLL OV STAERS!"1!"!"12

The klingon thing was a big joke, the had a press release where they told everyone that they were sticking with the new look klingons (cos tbh the old ones were a bit pants).
