    Lads,
This might be a stupid question but...
What OS makes for the best print server and what way is it best configured? Print server will have about 100+ users at peak times.

    Thanks,

    Jimmy...

Nt is easier allright. Novell 4.x is harder but more reliable and faster. Maybe that's changed with win2k but hey that won't be a real o/s until the 2nd/3rd service pack wink.gif

As long as you've got a decent spec'ed server and it ain't doing a load of other stuff as well you'll have no probs.
One of our NT boxes in london has 148 printers on it.

don't know too much about NT, but Novell is pretty good. You have to watch the user connection limits though, we ahd a bit of a panic because those little ****wits in Cardiff can't figure out how to log off a PC and put nearly 200 connection to the server (plonkers). The Server decided to 'trim' the connections by bypassing parts of the login script, most annoyingly, the capture commands for the print servers.

Still, if you don't have a company of complete morons affecting you, I reckon Novell is the best way to go. Easy to troubleshoot and designed quite niftily.
