Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I'd like to upload a custom avatar, the one in my sig specifically, and cant seem to figure out how. Any help is appriciated.

    Currently the ability to use custom avatars is restricted to certain admins. To the best of my knowledge is was tried but stopped due to abuse.

    Will this feature be brought back?

    Can there be a discussion on the subject?

    I think that using custom avatars would be much better, possibly limiting image size and file size to stop further abuse.

    Well the problem would be that idiots would upload hundreds of them and annoy everyone with them, it's ok on smaller boards but when you ahve a board this size it just can't be done.

    Ok.. The way I figure it there are 5,430 registered members. (At the time of this post)
    -Members Pages - 182 pages @ 30 members per page.
    Not all of these are active on the boards.

    Assuming from the page linked in the first post. It says
    You need x many posts to use these icons
    then it can be set that you have to reach a certain number (200 for arguements sake) of posts before being allowed to do it. This would not be that difficult to implement. Take for example Forumplanet.
    On their front page (linked) it is listed that there are 80,969 Users. and this facility is available there.

    I'm not stupid I do know that these boards dont have the huge resources that a company like Gamespy Industries has. I'm just saying that it is possible, and possibly worth investigation.

    if u make the abilty to use them dependant on post numbers spam will spam spam and spam.

    why not add custom ones to the selectoin so anyone can pick them, and they are all hosted on boards.ie. and limit it to one upload per a/c and pw its use.

    good idea dbc. maybe if certain users could submit one avatar pic, and if it meets specs it could be added for all to use.

    Pimp Ninja, the most likely reason you didn't get a response is because this idea has been discussed over and over...

    people got the idea of having their own custom avatar's, and avatar threads were being made everytime the latest one reached the bottom of the thread list... Eventually the idea was tested but it caused a mini-case of chaos with people spamming about who's was the best, and lots of other things, so like AMP has already stated, the option has been restricted...

    I honestly think that it would be great to add a custom touch to the look of boards as a whole, and being able to call something your own, or make you feel unique, but at the end of the day it's most definately not an option that should be made open to everyone who makes an account... Lots of the problems have already been posted here, and there would be many more...

    It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is... If we do get the chance to use custom avatar's, I'd say it won't be for quite some time...
