I was in the Raddison (probably wrong spelling) for "110th St." (which is the name of the club on Sat night). I have to say I'm well impressed. The place looks fantastic, and IMO is Galway's best looking night spot.

I had asked a mate who was there about 2 weeks ago for a description, and now I'm wondering if he was there @ all, because he neglected to mention the size of it.

    Let me give my description
You enter the club through a door just to the left of the main entrance to the hotel. The door staff are well polite, but will ask for ID, and check your attire. They didn't ask myself and my mate for ID, and while in the queue, they didn't refuse anybody. They seemed good humored, and were smiling, and cracking jokes to the punters who in return gave as good as they got, and there were no hard feelings. Which is different to many other venues in Galway where the bouncer can't take a joke, and kicks there power trip in to action, by refusing you entry

The entry fee is €10 (but I got in free coz I know the promoters [Muhahahah]). Once inside you are met by bright coloured walls, and soft lighting, and 1 large bar. Which IMO was under-staffed, because it took me about 10mins to get a pint at around 11:30. I was drinking Bulmers pint bottles which cost me €4.65. Also my first impression was that the crowd seemed 25+, and that there were too many suits, which made me feel under dressed. At this point I noticed the dance floor, and the DJ area, and was unimpressed. But what I didn't know is that I was in the front bar, and had seen nothing yet.

To progress, you make your way down a level, to the toilet area. Also on that floor you can go through double doors to a balcony area for the club (here is where my jaw dropped). I was now standing on the balcony in a big open room, easily twice the size of Leisurland's main hall. All around the room were projection screens, and guess what, "Lord of the Rings" was being played. I quickly disposed of my jacket in the cloak room (€2 per item), and made my way down another flight of stairs to explore the whole area, which was nicely packed around the 12:15 mark. It's much darker in the club area, with flourescent lighting, and lights that only seem to point at the dancefloor, which might I add, is bigger than any other dance floor in Galway. The Dj was decent, who was not one of your Play/Stop (not able to mix) chart guys who mumbles some rubbish every 2mins. This guy didn't talk at all, which is what I like. He was bangin out some classic R&B/Garage style stuff on da 1210s. Not my choice in music since I'm a (Funky house/Progressive Dj myself), but his mixing kept me entertained. He was perfect for the night, and crowd in question.

As for bars, there are 3 in the club itself. 1 each for Pints, Shorts/Shots, and another for Bottles (incl Pint Bottles).

Now here is probably the most important thing (if you're a guy of course). The Women, OMFG , AFAIK all the good looking women that ever existed in Galway were lockup up in a room in this place, and are only let out during club nights to tease and seduce the crowd. I have never in my life (and I mean it), seen sooooo many babes in the one place. I didn't know where to turn, and thought I was in heaven. I am going to cut this section short because words cannot describe what I saw. Just go there and see for yourselves.

Anyway the night finished around the 2:15 mark with the bars remaining open while music was being played.

That concludes my review. I am telling everyone to @ least go to this place once. The only people that I can think of that wouldn't appreciate this club are those who would have frequented Liquid, before it turned in to Angels. I loved the music in Liquid but not the venue. Also if you're under 21, don't bother because you will look completely out of place.

AFAIK Cuba doesn't serve Cuban food or anything like that, but it does cater for that type of music now and again. You can purchase Cuban cigars, and the likes. Personally I like the place but many on these boards don't. So it's really a matter of opinion.

The reason people say they don't like Cuba is because it doesn't have any atmosphere. This is true to a point, but that really depends on what kind of atmosphere you are looking for. I personally don't like smoky old man pubs, that you have to put up with just to get a pint of Guinness. I am the type of person that likes the trendy/modern atmosphere, that only seems to be found in the Irish cities. Cuba is an example of this IMO. Other clubs in Galway do good because of reputation, and loyalty of their customers. I personally don;t give a **** about loyalty when it comes to clubs/pubs, because you will always have new/different people in your company that will want to go somehwere else.

But Cuba has IMO a lovely open plan front bar. I like it because it has never taken me ages to get a pint, but you have to be in there early if you want a place to sit. Depending on, if you're a dance head, or just like alternative music, the club above will cater for both. On a Saturday night for example, the first floor is dance music (with DJ Ferg, playing mainly progressive stuff), and then above that you have the alternative floor where people focus more on socialising/drinking, instead of dancing. But having said that the dance floor has gotten hectic up there also.

But the only thing I don't like about the club in cuba is that it's a tad small, but looks the business with it's glass + indigo backlit bars, that really adds to the more modern look.

Anyway that's all I'm going to say. It's either of those clubs you like or don't like. Personally I like it, but that's just me ;)

Thanks for the info. I was hoping they played the cuban music there but it sounds like not so much. I thought a club named cuba would have a cuban theme, but that just makes too much sense i guess, lol
    thanks though :)

Was in Busker Browns for food on Sunday. I can honestly say that it is by far the worst place for food I have ever been. Don't get me started on the waitresses and the guniness!
