I want to stop a whole load of crap ass programs starting up with windows 98. They aren't in the startup folder of the start menu so where do I find them and stop them?

Go to Start->Run and type 'msconfig'. This is a 'hidden' config sheet, ie Microsoft don't document it on your system. On there somewhere should be a tab with all those annoying progs that keep starting on startup. For something more permanent though takes registry editing, and I'll tell you if you want, but it's not necessary :)

    Should do Seamus.

If that is your real name.

I've been cursing the several start-up progs that
cause my win98 machine to take an age to fully boot up,
so this is just what I've been looking for!
    Ta!
