Ford gives Arthur dent peanuts to eat from the pub before they hitch their lift from the vogons. the teleporting takes a lot out of your body, but the peanuts because of their high amounts of salt, make the teleport less draining. or something

Wrong! The guide originally referred to Earth as harmless, and after Ford Prefect sent back 15 years worth of research into the planet, the evaluation changed to "Mostly Harmless".
