Is there a doohickie available that will allow me to switch between headphones and speakers on my PC ? Plugging \unplugging is getting tedious. Thx.

Yeah, a simple Y-cable.
turn on/off your speakers when you want to.

~£5 in any audio/visual shop.

You could prolly get some with inbuilt volume controls too, or get some Sony thing offa walkman.
