Boards to close... for a day...

We'll be joining IOFFL in their blackout day by closing all boards for one day (Friday) with the exception of the IOFFL board (which kinda ironically, we are leaving up for communications reasons for IOFFL people to organise stuff...thats our idea btw, they might ask us to close entirely I dunno...)

Anyway, we ask your patience and understanding.

I'm in Germany at the moment, and was hoping to not have to join in the protests, y'see over here i have 24/7 access to internet over a network, at about 10mbs for a mere 6 punts a month, and its bloody fantastic that is, so i dont really feel the need to protest at that offer, and now i have to. Well ****!!

Thinking about it - it's ok, I was sitting down - I don't really see any real need for the IO forum to stay up. Most of the committee will be on Grafton Street on the day, and those who aren't won't be online anyway. So if DeV and Cloud are ok with it, I would suggesting taking the lot down. It should save a bit of hassle for Cloud anyway, because it just means toggling a radio button.

Anyway, thanks very much to Boards.ie, Spinsol, and everybody else for this, it's a fantastic help to us. I've been singing your praises big-time to all the journalists I've talked to over the last few days, and I think Boards.ie will be getting a few mentions in the coming days. We owe you pints, so be sure to come to Grafton Street tomorrow to claim them!

i approached my company to join the blackout and was laughed at... i tried:(

i will however not be using the web for ye old blackout infact im tempted to take tomorrow off as im the guy who everyone goes to to get drivers... tis unfortunate but i cant get up to grafton street. wish i could cos its a good cause.

also if i go into work im afraid i may find that i actually do nothing for a living and then i would be depressed. fare thee well boards... see you monday morning.
