I am in Limerick not Cork but you should achieve similiar results

I carried out the following speed test with speakeasy.net in Boston, Chicago, Denver and Dallas

    Boston
Your download speed : 982720 bps, or 982 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 119.9 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 91596 bps, or 91 kbps.

    Chicago
Your download speed : 485289 bps, or 485 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 59.2 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 124649 bps, or 124 kbps.

    Denver
Your download speed : 548353 bps, or 548 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 66.9 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 123475 bps, or 123 kbps.

    Dallas
Your download speed : 576611 bps, or 576 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 70.3 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 402252 bps, or 402 kbps.

thanks for the help , I just wanted to know what kinda speeds I could expect as ADSL seems years away still :((

I presume theres a d/l limit on chorus too :((

    Is there any unlimited option?

With Chorus powernet, 3gb/month free transfer limit, after that it's 2p per mb or something similar.

You don't really have any other options. Frustrating, isn't it?

Chorus Cable Internet is not available in Cork. The cable they have is rotting away and is not being replaced. Talk to Dahamsta in the Ireland Offline forum about Chorus he has had loads of experience with them.
