So, what are your nominations for the album of the year.
If I had to pick 3, I'd go for:

    The Divine Comedy - Regeneration
Super Furry Animals - Rings Around the World
The Frames - For the Birds.

The Strokes - Is this it?

The Strokes for me too, and then the Reindeer Section. If there were three good albums this year I am lost if I can think of the third.

i just noticed that the strokes album, this is it, has an anagram, 'this is ****'... how ironic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    anyways, albums of the year........

    Muse- Origin of Symmetry
    Manics- Know Your Enemy
    My Vitriol- Finelines
    King Adora- Vibrate You
    Terris- Learning to Let Go
    New Order- Get Ready

    Redneck Manifesto - "thirtysixstrings"
Snow Patrol - "When it's all over..."
The Strokes - "Is this it?"
Gorkys Zygotic Mynci - "The Blue Trees"

Eyeliner Boy...you've picked some good albums, but Terris!...surely you jest...I thought that album was a disgraceful piece of muck.

I also thought the Reindeer Section album was a bit of a disappointment based on Lightbody's previous output.

    ...just sayin' like.

Dccarm, I found it a bit of a struggle to come up with 3, aswell, well actually I'd add the Strokes, but after that, it's been a bad year for good albums.

I must say The Black Crowes, Lions rocks! But to be honest, The Frames, For the Birds takes the biscuit... I cant argue with genius.

Discovery - daft punk ...... clever bastards, with a knack for writing irresistable tunes.

    A Camp - A Camp......effortlessly good songs, Nina's seductive purr....and Mark Linkous's brilliantly understated production

Shea seger - The May Street Project......can out last year but what the hey.......love her lazy way of singing

    also

Aphex Twin - Drukqs......a bit of a dissapointment by aphex standards, but still walk's all over the competition

MMMM.....I haven't bought many new albums this year. My vote would go for Staind's Break The Cycle(I can hear your groans so SHUT UP!!!), or certainly for best newcomers, and I've heard Incubus's new one is really really good, but I have yet to hear it. I don't think live albums or collection albums should be included - there's nothing new about them, if they were going to win, they already would've. :) And PiE - that's a tad presumptious(sic) isn't it? Besides, aren't they collection albums?:)

    aren't they collection albums?:)

    Yea...
    that's a tad presumptious(sic) isn't it?

...anyone else see the contradictory answer? :)

Well, actually one of them is a 'Greatest Hits' the other is a collection of rarities.

But to be honest the Pumpkins could fart through a didgeridoo and it would sound better than 99% of the stuff released this year*

    :)

    Opeth - Blackwater Park

Complex Progressive Swedish Mellow Melodic Death Metal with acoustic guitars.

oh, i heard the smashing pumpkins rarities cd, and to be honest if they had farted through a didgeridoo it would've been an improvement. at least it would've been listenable. i've never heard such self-indulgent ****. most of the best of cd, is of course, great, although it gets a tad irritating at the end. my problem with **** songs isn't that they're **** (no, really, continue reading), bcos if they're done with humour (like System of a Down song about what he does when ... angel's ... die) it's just funny. okay, so system of a down probably isn't supposed to be funny, but the lyrics ... priceless! and the singing ... just hilarious.

Sorry but you obviously haven't heard it (all). If you did you'd realise that only about 6-7 (of the 16) tracks are from the "Machina" style era. I say this because the I agree that the post Machina releases were over-cooked. The rest of the tracks on that CD (i.e. The Aeroplane Flies High, Set the Ray to Jerry etc) are premium pre-Machina Pumpkinage.

Also, this isn't directed at you o sleep, but the next person that proclaims that they were a huge fan of the Pumpkins before that "****" Machina, is gonna get a slap in the chops. Machina, even if you don't like it, is still better than 90% of the b*llox being released today. *

i have to say it sounds like a bit of a "left overs" CD,
stuff that didn't make it as a b-side, and pumpkins
have had great b-sides over the years.
The best songs on it are those that were b-sides,
    - aeroplane and believe, track 1 is rockin as well.
