missing partitions (WIN ME)

a couple of partitions have gone missing from my Maxtor 40gb disc... very frustrating. I had three partitions, two for windows and a third for Linux. Linux refuses to boot at present and windows only reads the first 10gb partition. any ideas? ...reformating isint an option really. some erreplacable gfx files on there.
