    General Packet Radio Service (GPRS).

GPRS is an intermediate step that is designed to allow the GSM world to implement a full range of Internet services without waiting for the deployment of full-scale 3G wireless systems. GPRS technology is packet-based and designed to work in parallel with existing 2G GSM, PDC and TDMA systems. GPRS offers a theoretical maximum 171.2kb/s bit rate, when all 8 timeslots are utilised at once. Although it is more likely that users would be allocated 2-4 timeslots (circa 28Kb/s to start with), significantly lowering the actual bit rate.

It will provide an 'Always-on' connection, as for the price haven't heard anything on that, most likely paying for what ever u download, and you'll probably get a meg or 2 'free' a month as part of you connection
